Honeyfund anyone?

Is anyone registered on honeyfund.com? Basically it is a registry where people can make donations towards your honeymoon. Is this tacky and should it be left alone? My FI and I already live together and we have everything we need. except we would like a nice set of flatware my friend did this for her registry for people to donate to excursions for their cruise. One other issue, we don't have a honeymoon planned yet and probably won't take our cruise until 46I months after the wedding. What is your take on this?

Re: Honeyfund anyone?

  • They are both tacky and a bad idea for the reasons Liatris described.
  • Agreed, I'd just say do a regular gift registry. If people want to give you money they'll do so in the form of an actual check or cash at the wedding.

[QUOTE]There is a sticky about honeymoon registries, but I'll give you the cliff notes: Don't do a honeymoon registry for several reasons: 1. They are asking for cash, which is rude, you should never ask people for money, 2. They are deceptive. Guests think they are buying you a snorkeling trip, but you get a check for the amount the snorkel trip costs. 3. They are a scam. You or your guests must may a service fee to do something you can do without a fee, which is write a check. If you want money for the honeymoon, create a small registry of upgrades (the flatware you mentioned, new sheets and towels are nice, fun kitchen gadgets, etc.). When people ask where you are registered or what you'd like you respond "We registered at XYZ and are saving for a trip to __."

    Yep.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Tack, and they steal from your pockets.  I have no idea why people decide to use them after reading "Oh, we take a percentage of your cash, kay thx bye".

  • Thanks for everyone's input!  I will definitely do regular bridal registriesLaughing

  • The company I booked my honeymoon thru you put down a deposit, and they give you cards to put in your invites. If your family members want to call in and put down something towards your honeymoon they can.
