What'd ya accomplish this week? Anything good planned for the upcoming week?

I rescheduled our cake tasting to next weekend. I need to call our DJ and see if he ever got my email about adding the ceremony to our contract.

I also got a call saying I won a free "pampering" from a Mary Kay lady in my area. I'm sure she got my info from DB since I'm not registered and she says she got it off a registry list. Either way, I'd like to go I think. She told me to bring as many of my girls as I want. She'll give us facials and things, try to sell us some makeup, and be on her way. I think it sounds kind of fun, but I've been very noncommittal at this point. My MOH expressed interest, so if I can get her on board I'll do it. If not I'll tell the girl thanks and but no thanks.

I called my MOH's hair girl yesterday, her rates are great and I have basically verbally committed but there won't be a contract until the trial. I will likely do the trial early next year so I can be sure it's nailed down.

did some DIY, chalkboard painted my escort tags blue (will be strung from an old barn door) and some barnwood picture frames with the glass a grey color. They will be sitting around, bar, mr & ms, cigars, cake. FYI it took FOREVER for the tags, I got 175 of them since they come in packs of 25 and I have 170 invited. SO since they are so small you cant just paint on them like you can with the glass frames, you basically have to paint your hands, then move them and paint over the spot your hand was and try not to lift up in the middle or leave a smudge with your finger. I did two coats and then sanded them all with a sanding sponge. Whole process took about 5 hours, so I guess be aware that DIY often takes a lot more time than expected (I was shooting for 2 hours) when multiplying by 175. AND theres a chance I need to keep going, I think the back looks really bad now with just bare wood, so I might be using the paint (regular though, not chalkboard) to cover up the shoddy back side.

Im getting concerned about my baker, she messaged me back last week and then kind of disappeared again. I really want a different contact because this is all through facebook messaging, maybe she is better with email or phone or something. So that isn't nailed down yet either.

Ash, I'd definitely try to contact the baker another way. I know when I try to use FB messages on my phone, I don't always get the most recent message the person sent, and my messages don't always go through. If she's using a phone to reply, she might be having the same issues.

cnf, the Mary Kay thing sounds like it would be fun, I'd definitely try to get your girls to do it. And I'd probably make some sangria or something for the evening.

I made some more headway on our centerpieces this weekend, and I ordered our save the dates on Monday!! Thanks to Groupon and Vistaprint's deals, I was able to get 250 save the dates (we're going to have a LOT of extras), and 40 thank you cards for $35 total. I can't wait til they get here. I also went through the guest list one more time and made some tweaks, and I got it approved by my mom. I just have to make sure it passes muster with my dad before we start sending the save the dates.

We haven't done too much wedding stuff lately, except this past weekend we went to PreCana. Which was actually very helpful and insightful. I would definitely recommend doing something like it just to make sure you are both on the same page about everything.

Next on the line is finding a limo or some sort of transportation for us. And tracking down all the addresses to start addressing the save the dates.

I've finally designed our Save the Dates, FI will look over them today and then I'll go on to order them. So excited to get that done and finally send them out to everyone!

I've also called the florist that we want to use to schedule an appointment, their wedding coordinator wasn't in yesterday, so I'm expecting them to call back today. We are not doing too much for flowers (our centerpieces are non floral), but I still want to have the florist booked now so that we can cross that big check off our vendor list.

Ash, you were really productive! That's the bad part about any DIY projects even if they are not wedding related, they sometimes take up a lot more time and we think!

Emily, gotta love getting a good deal! Are you going through VP for your invites?

Susie, I am dreading gathering addresses! And the addressing STDs and invites too. Lol.

I'm still really early on in our engagement so don't have much accomplished, it more gathering information right now. I did buy a few things online yesterday for some DIY projects that I have in mind. I also order about 10 different envelope samples. I'm somewhat decent with graphic design and if I find something I like, typically I can recreate it pretty easily. So I plan on making the invites, RSVPs, ect. and have a local printing company print them for me. But I also want cute envelopes to go along with them, hence all the samples. I think we have narrowed now where to hold the reception and I will hopefully be going to look at it this weekend. Still have to pinpoint the ceremony location, but again, hopefully within the week that will be confirmed. I made an appointment to look at dresses and will be doing that next month. It seems so far off, but it was the only Saturday that would work for my sister, my mom and I. So October 13th is Dress Day. I also stopped by the bakery that I will probably be going through to get a rough idea on prices. I'm sure I'm missing a few other things, but that is all for now.

I haven't done much this week. We are ordering our save the dates today or tomorrow and I am meeting with my florist on Friday for our first consultation.

I've been slowly working on DIY projects. I painted some chalkboards and gave them a vintage crackle look. I just got an email my invites have been shipped. I had a groupon to use up and actually ordered the invites but still need to get the Save the Dates. I'm waiting to get our e-pics done for those which will be Oct. 6th. I was lucky enough to find another Groupon for Vistaprint last week and will use that for those.All the big stuff is done for me.

I haven't been very productive this week...I'm jealous of all you ladies who are getting your STDs done. I'm struggling to get the pictures we had FBIL take from him

Sometimes using family for this stuff isn't the best idea in the world. I'm really trying to be patient but I'm starting to stress over not having STDs ready to go out.

We got the chair covers I bought. FI actually likes them so I'm happy about that. The hangers are taking FI longer than he anticipated so neither those or the directional signs for inside our venue are finished yet. They're started though, LOL.

We met with my pastor about the ceremony and I got a little more information about the service order he uses and what's acceptable and not during the service. I'll need to make a few adjustments but for the most part I was correct with my original assumptions of the service which definitely makes me happy.

I'm waiting to get a copy of the signed contract from the DOC. The contact between us has been a little hit and miss (partially my fault partially hers) so I'm a little nervous but she came with great reviews so I'm sure things will turn around.

I have to sign and send back the photobooth contract with deposit. I keep forgetting to print out the contract but I know I'm on the calendar so we're good.

That's about it for me. Sounds like you ladies have been much more productive, LOL.

We booked our Honeymoon yesterday!!! We are going to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic! I'm def more excited for the Honeymoon than the wedding! I've never been out of the country before. That's pretty much all that has happened this week.

LadyLuck, I'm not sure if we're going to use VP for invites or not. I'm pretty sure we're going to use an Etsy vendor to design them, but I'm still trying to figure out if we'd be better off printing them at home or using a place like VP.

Wow, everyone is so productive... kudos to all you ladies.

I've been going back and forth with the florist this week, making tweaks to the propsal, after the consultation we had last Friday. It's looking good so far. I'm really excited aboout our centerpiees, they are going to be so amazing! The venue is letting us build a floral arrangement around their silver candelabras, something they say no one has done there before (which surprises me because they are so lovely and pretty much ooze Victorian elegance). I showed the florist a reference picture of a candelabra centerpiece with flowers on it and she designed a modified version. I can't wait!!! I should have the contract settled and my date reserved with her by next week at the latest.

Also, trying to get the uplighting contract settled. This was something that FI asked for and now that I saw the demo I'm in love with it. The amber lights truly make the dining room glow.

Last night I was researching a few odds and ends for the reception (overlays, napkins, escort cards, etc.) But really I'm just looking forward to locking down my floral and lighting contracts by next week so that I can move on to the next few items...

I'm also waiting till our E-photo session (scheduled for Oct 13) before I make my STDs. I've also decided to do digital STDs and just email them out, so I can save the money for my actual invites -which I wasn't planning to order till Dec or Jan... you girls are really ahead of the game in this area. I'd be interested to see what all your invites look like, as mine have been a major source of inspiration for me regarding colors and style for the rest of the event. Anyone else take inspiration from your invites?

I'm off today, tomorrow and Friday, so I'm hoping to get some stuff done! I called a potential bartender, and have been researching nice-ish plastic barware, if such a thing actually exsists. I'm going to get on some more DIY this afternoon, string balls, tulle pom pom looking things, crepe streamer roses, etc. We're going to display family wedding pictures at our guest book table, I got a copy of my mom's parents pic in the mail today. It's from the 40's, and they look so adorable!

The only thing we got accomplished this week was our e-pics. This week is pretty much a research/schedule appointment week. Next Thursday, the FI and I are both off, so I am scheduling several appointments that day, the only one I know for sure is a cake tasting. We also need to go to our reception venue and go look at their linens to see if they have anything we like, if not we will look elsewhere, but at least it will rule it out.

Now that e-pics are done, we need to start looking into save the dates, I want to use the pictures on them and we want to do a magnet. Any advice on how to get them cheap?
