drive time

Hey Ladies

So I really want to have my wedding at Cobblestone Farm in Ann Arbor it would be perfect! but its about an hour from my house and even farther for some of my guests.

How far would you expect your guests to drive?

My immediate family is in the detroit metro area, but still so widespread that anywhere we picked, most people would be driving 45 minutes to an hour, minimum.  I would expect that kind of a drive.  Now...if it was no closer than two hours for ANYONE on your guest list...I might start side-eyeing that.

I agree, I think 45 minutes to an hour is completely acceptable!

I think it is fine I would just suggest getting a block of rooms at a hotel so people don't have to drive home if they don't want to.

Yeah, 45 min is fine!  My family is driving that far, and I picked half-way between them. And FI's family is driving 8 hours, so you know, it's all relative. :)

I think it's fine as long as you're not planning to have the ceremony and reception that far apart (i.e. the ceremony at a church by your house and the reception at cobblestone farms). That can be annoying. But if they're near each other or both at cobblestone, I think that's great. Definitely get some hotel rooms.

We live in Ann Arbor, most of our family lives in Adrian and Hudson, and we're getting married in Saline. So most of them will have to drive about 45 minutes to an hour, and I think that's fine. I have a couple random guests that live a little bit farther away that I know will be coming as well. I plan to reserve a block of rooms at a hotel in Ann Arbor (since there really isn't any in Saline).

Cobblestone Farms is so pretty! And it's really close to a ton of hotels over on State St, so I'd be sure to reserve a block of rooms for anyone who doesn't want to drive an hour home after the reception.

maybe i'm in the minority here... i would be irritated as a guest to drive from metro detroit to ann arbor.
My family all lives within the metro detroit area, therefore i will keep it as close to them as possible. i know my family would be PO'd and likely not go if it was a hike.
i see what you guys are saying that within reason it could be a 40+ minute drive for some people.. i just find it inconsiderate to make everyone drive close to an hour.

So true!  I can't imagine anyone getting upset at the thought of an hour drive.  It's a very special occasion!
