Signature Drinks, anyone....?

FI really wants to do this....
We saw it at another wedding once, and he fell in love with the idea.
But neither of us really knows how this works.... do you literally come up with a new drink? Or take an allready known drink recipe & give it a new name?
What are some good ones?
I am not a big drinker, so it really doesn't matter to me. FI kind of wants it to have Jaeger in it, but I don't know if a lot of people really like Jaeger.. (I know I don't, but i don't really plan on drinking it either way...)
Anyone else doing this? What are your drinks?

I am doing it. I think I am just taking existing drinks and changing the names. I couldnt even tell you the name my mom came up with for my drinks but one is blue and it may be the mets margarita. Its a margarita with blue curacau. The other is orange. I was thinking maybe orange juice, peach schnapps and vodka. And hten i wanted to have a layered drink but i think that may be too complicated for the venue. We are donating to a charity for autism called surfers healing so I thought something multicolored would be nice.

So as you can see pretty much I am making it up as I go. My mom has a cocktail book we used as inspiration.

We did Watermelon Mojitos at ours. DH loves a mojito and they just taste SO good with watermelon. Some people do a drink that matches their colors/theme. We didn't. We just picked something tasty. If you want to make up a drink you can. If you want to make up a new name for an old drink you can do that too. We decided not to do anything fancy in that respect.

We did one. It was a big hit. It was called Aruba Blue (since that's where we went for our Honeymoon) It was white Champagne mixed with a Blue Raspberry syrup, to give it the blue color and garnished with a pineapple slice and a cherry.

I think it can go either way you can come up with something on your own or take your favorite drink and rename it.

Our signature drink is champagne with chambord (however you spell it), which is a raspberry liquor with a fresh strawberry in each glass.. delicious! Too bad I won't get any with my white dress.. it will be regular champagne for me!

Heather, I think it's a cute idea! You should do something that will go with your beach theme. Think summer. I wouldn't suggest Jauger though, not too many people drink it. If you do a signature drink it should be something that everyone would enjoy even if they aren't big drinkers. Jumst my opinion.

we are doing a saigon cosmo (we have a good amount of asian food plus it is one of my favorite drinks). it is plum sake, vodka, and cranberry. So yummy, and not as sweet as a regular cosmo.

we are only doing this because it was included in our package. if it wasn't included i don't think we would even consider having one.

Do most venues allow you to do this or is it an extra charge? How did you "announce" the signature drink?

We had a central park theme (we had named our tables after our fav spots in central park) so we incorporated this into our signature drink. We called it a "sheep meadow mojito". it was just a regular mojito but we incorporated a location in central park into the name. the name of our signature drink was in a frame and displayed at the bar.

We're having one, not sure what yet though. Our wedding is at the end of June so it will definitely be something summery. The way our venue does it is that it is no additional cost as long as it consists of ingredients that are already available at their bar. Anything "specialty" that is outside of the norm we'd have to pay for. I believe they'll have a bunch passed out as people enter the cocktail hour, and it will be available throughout the night as well. I plan on putting the name and ingredients in a frame on the bar

We are getting married in December and were thinking about having peppermint martinis as our signature drink. I am still unsure because that is not something that I would drink and I want our signature drink to be something that I will drink.

I am having a signature drink. It is a Pom. Martini with some add citrus flavors to make it extra nice. It did not cost us extra to have a signature drink

Our venue does not charge for it either, so long as it is made of ingredients they all ready serve... which seems to be just about everything, even top shelf, so no worried there....
As for how we are going to announce it ~ I was also thinking frame on the bar(s) with the name & ingredients on it.

We are doing one. Basically we are just using a sea breeze drink (vodka, grapefruit, splash of cranberry - because we like that drink for summer) and calling it the "Tahitian Sunset", as we are going to Tahiti for our honeymoon. I bought those little drink umbrellas to stick on a peice of lime. It may be a little cheesy, but I think its cute. I found a selling on Etsy to make some signs for me to put on the bar (I paid $15 for 4 signs). The venue is not charging extra, as it is simply a drink they would normally make.

I've contemplated doing this, mostly b/c we already have "our" drink, that FI's been making for me the entire time we've been dating. I think it's official name is a raspberry sorbet martini - it's chambourd, raspberry (or regular) vodka, cranberry juice with a splash of lime. I haven't brought it up with the venue yet, so I don't know their policy on signature drinks.

LOL ofcourse my venue charged me extra for it - which I thought was silly - but we did do one. It was a Blue Lagoon - we used the blue because our wedding had a lot of light blue coloring in it

Our venue isn't charging more to do the signature drink. The way it was explained to me, is that we choose which martini/drink we want as our signature cocktails and then we get to name it whatever we want. The venue has a fantastic martini bar, so I am excited about this.

Now the hard part...thinking of names!

We're getting married at The Oyster Point and they've included it in our package so after contemplating a million options we came up with this: We're having an open bar so all of the "drinkers" in the crowd can really get whatever they like to drink. I thought a Sig. Drink would be nice for the "not so big drinkers" so we decided something light, Bellini's- Champagne with Peach. light and delish.
