How did you and FI meet?

I thought it would be interesting to learn each others back story.

Here's ours:

I was paying for gas and FI was in line behind me. We made eye contact when he walked in, but I didn't really think anything besides he's cute... So, when it was my turn I said "$10 on 5" and he said "I'll get that" as in pay for!

Needless to say, I was shocked but I obliged and let him pay for my gas. Then he walked with me back to my car and pumped it too! This may not seem like a big deal to some of you but I was absolutely floored lol... So we were talking while the gas pumped and he asked for my number. I was the type that NEVER gave my number to anyone, but I gave it to him. I guess he picked up on this because he called me like 5 minutes later and said "I just wanted to make sure you gave me your real number." Lol, we laughed about it and talked for like 2 hrs, had our first date that weekend and the rest is history!

So how did you and your FI meet?

im a regular in a local yahoo chat 3.5yrs ago, he sent me a message asking me if knew of any good clubs in dallas, which turned into a 4hour convo about everything, him, me, life. it was really surreal - he asked me for my number which i rarely give out, especially to strangers online but with him i took the risk, and we've been attached to the hip ever since.

We met at work. He was transfered to my system after hurricane Katrina in New Orleans where he lost everything. I saw him come in the office one day and thought he was cute but thought he was married so I didn't pay any attention. Anyway I guess he had been scoping me out and asking about me. I went to the vending machine the Friday before my Thanksgiving vacation and my jolly rancher sour chews got stuck in the machine. I left a note and went on vacation. I got an e-mail from him saying he had my candy and would give it to me when I returned . Of course when I returned I no longer wanted the candy.

Eventually he was put on my team at work and we started chatting over instant message. He really worked hard to get me, gave me his phone number I didn't call, etc. Until finally he asked me on a date in July of 06 (we met in November 05) and I said only if you take me, my mom, and grandmother out (they were coming into town) and he did. The last thing my grandmother said before she and my mother left was that is a good man you better not let him get away.

And well I didn't! I hate that she passed away 2 years ago from cancer and will not get to witness our marriage but I know she'd be happy. I always tell him we have my grandmother to thank for us getting together. She helped me to see what a good catch he was and she helped him have a chance with me!

We met on Match.com. It was the a week before my membership was supposed to renew and I had decided I was't going to renew it because I hadn't had any luck. My FI winked at me, then sent me an email....and the rest is history.

We met when our friends were dating at the time 6 years ago. I didn't even look at him as someone I would date because I didn't consider him my type and he felt the same way about me, so we were just friends and somehow we just ended up clicking. It was very unexpected, but we fell in love 2 years after meeting and have been together ever since. Our friends still can't believe we are together and it's been almost 4 years. I know this is gong to sound so cliche, but I am truly marrying my best friend, :-)

We met through a mutual friend who stopped by my apartment one random Friday night. My FI just happened to be with the friend, and he caught my eye immediately. I never believed in love at first sight, but I felt like we were meant to be together. He was everything I ever wanted in a man and apparently something about me sparked his interest too. While FI and his friend were at my apt, FI asked to use my laptop. Apparently I was still signed in to my facebook page and FI's nosey butt found my phone number in a message I had sent to someone else. A few days later we were chatting on facebook and he said he wanted to call me. Then he told me how he had my number already because he was intrigued by our first meeting. Instead of being offended because he went through my facebook, I was slightly turned on that he went that far to get my number. Honestly, it sounded like something I would have done but would have never admitted. lol. The rest is history.

We met while in college through two of my Sorors (they went to high school together) during our sophomore year. FI and I were friends (I thought he was just for the "friend zone") for 8 yrs before we started to entertain the idea of a relationship. Prior to our relationship, we spent a great deal of time together at movies, plays, discussing books over dinner, and shopping (yes, the man went shoe shopping with me!) So, total we have known each other for 16 years and I too am marrying my bestfriend...the one I did not pay attention to in the beginning! BTW- He and I still shop together..happily:)

I was there with my Sorors and he stopped thru with his frat brothers (they were road-tripping to FL from ATL for their Greek Week on my campus). I loved his dimples and he blew me off. So my line sister and I made a bet that I could make him want me by the end of the weekend.

My FI and I are both nerds who love reading and we love Harry Potter. In 2006 I started going to Harry Potter events and my first Confrence in 2008. An event was being broadcated from North Carolina online and few of us were logged on. I have made so many friends thru Harry Potter so on the chat we were saying where we were from and he noticed I was from the San Francisco area (He's from Belgium) and he asked if I knew 2 girls he met in London a month before at a Harry Potter thing. I mentioned that they were good friends of mine and one of them just to happend to be coming to my house later that day. We all traded facebook info and became friends. He and I started just chatting on fb and on instant messenger. There was a confrence coming up and he was going, I was still deciding, but I heard the hotel rooms were sold out. It turns out he had a room and didn't have roommates yet so I told hiim that me and a friend of mine would share a room with him.

About 2 weeks after deciding to share the room we were still talking a lot on fb and I really started to like him. I kept trying to see if he got the hint and so finally I told him and he liked me too. We started a long distance thing and met for the first time at the confrence. From that first moment we were joined at the hip and it was like we had known one another and had been around each other forever. We had our first real date that day in Boston and our first kiss about 15 minutes after meeting in person for the first time. My sig pic is that day in Boston. We are so alike and he is my best friend. We travel back and forth between countries to spend time together. I spent 3 months with him in Belgium

I love that man so much!

This is such a cute idea. I kinda don't want to share my story 'cause you all have such cute stories that would make for great Romantic Comedies starring like Meg Ryan or some shyt. I was just joking around with FI about this and trying to come up with ways to make our story more interesting. I was thinking about using a story for some movie and pretending it was our story. LOL FI came up with some ridiculous tale that makes for a Sci Fi flick instead of a romantic love story. LOL. But here goes....

FI and I met through a mutual friend at a party. He was known as the guy that got the party started, and I was not well known among this circle of friends because I was pretty new to the area. I thought that FI was loud and obnoxious when I first met him. LOL. I was really surprised to learn that he was actually intelligent and well read. The first time we met we started talking about various books we read and recommended other book to one another. He had to leave the party early that night because he said that he had to wake up early the next morning for work. The next time I saw him was at a party thrown by the same friend. While at the party he spoke of some beer that he likes to get special order from a local beer and wine shop. I told him that I was not fond of beer I was more of a wine drinker. He told me that it was because I haven't tried the right beer so he invited me out to dinner at this restaurant/brewery. He said, "yeah, I take all of my friends out there!" We had great food and I discovered for the first time that I actually liked beer. After dinner we went out to this jazz club. After that night I realized that I liked him but I had no clue as to how he felt about me 'cause he played it so cool. So I just figured that we were destined to be great friends at that's it. We hung out together almost daily, just talking about everything and nothing at the same time. A girl friend of mine told me early on that he was in love with me, but I was like....nah...we're just friends. I just asked FI how we moved from friend to more than friends, and he said, I really don't know. It just happened organically.

So that's our not so glamorous, but organic love story. LOL

We met about 8 years ago through his sister- the same SIL that i have issues with now! Her best friend was my next door nieghboor and friend. One day i was siiting on the porch w/ my kids ( they were 6 and 2) and my nieghbor was saying to my SIL "...that's the girl your brother has a crush on..." I replied "....yeah, 'cuz he probably doesn't realize I have two young kids..." At that time, he had only seen me leaving work on a few occasions. So his sister replies"...oh please ...his ex had a kid AND she was still living w/ the baby's father...she played him big time..". Since his sister gave me this valuble information, I thought maybe I should give it a shot...he seems more human and vulnerable now. Everytime I get upset with my SIL, I have to remind myself that she's the reason I met my dream man.

We met at work. I was the summer intern and he was coming in for an interview. When I opened the door, I was like hmmm he's cute (and he thought the same about me). He ended up getting job and during his first week I helped train him and we were flirting and everything. Even had lunch together. On the Friday of his first week, I suggested we go out for drinks to celebrate his first week. Since we worked in the NYC and drinks are sooo expensive, he invited me up to his house in Westchester County.

The whole train ride we talked like we knew eachother for years. When we got there I hung with him and his sister the whole night. The next night we went to the club with friends. And the next weekend we were official. No one at work knew, even when I got pregnant. We would have secret lunch dates everyday...

We met while working at Wal-Mart together almost 4 years ago. We also discovered that we both went to the same university and was getting degrees (his B.S and my M.S) in the same field! And the rest is history! LOL!!!

we met about a 1 1/2 ago at a karaoke bar. he and his friends were sitting at a table beside me and my friends. we made small talk and at the end of the night we exchanged numbers.
