AW: DIY weekend (PIP)

Finished the headband with bow for my two year old flower girl (for those of you who remember, it matches the ring bearer bow tie and pillow I made.  More photos in bio under DIY.

Also, I finished the six DIY photobooth moustache props.  They were super easy, and took about 10 minutes.  The glue is still drying :P

  • Very cute! So I assume you are DIYing a photo booth... what are your plans for this? We wanted to do one too but I'm not sure if we can afford to build a wooden one so I'm trying to think of alternatives.

It's not really going to be a "booth", but rather more just a corner in the cocktail hour room.  My aunt is designing a little nature/tree scene right now, and we're going to kinkos and blowing up, printing it, and using it as a backdrop.  We're going to put a few props out there, and we've asked two of Matt's cousins if they'd mind taking photos during the cocktail hour for those who want them.  So people will stand in front of the backdrop with their props and maybe large painted frames and they will get photos snapped of them.

Then I'll upload them all to a website and give everyone the address in an email after the wedding.

Our wedding is October 30th--the day before Hallowe'en.  We had to have some sort of dress-up fun!

  • I want to do this too! But I was thinking of using a vintage fabric for the background. I was trying to figure out if there was anyway to print out the pictures right then, but I guess that's probably too much trouble.

  • Yay more DIY! The headband came out so cute! I can just imagine how adorable your little flower girl will look.

I don't know what my obsession with mustache's is? I saw a mustache mug at a store the other week and I almost bought it but stopped myself.. so I got mustache mirror clings for our guest bathroom instead, haha!

But anyways, your mustaches on a stick are awesome! I love that inspiration pic on how to display them.. I may have to copy that..

  • hee hee i like the mustaches its a great touch!!!!!!!!!!
  • Did you follow a mustache template somewhere?  Are they just felt?  They look AMAZING!
A friend posted a "holding the picture frame" picture up to facebook, and it looked incredible.  They seem to have been provided with tiny hats as props, as well.
    I am very impressed!

I didn't follow a template, I just took a piece of white computer paper, folded it in half and drew a variety of half-moustaches.  I cut them out to see if I liked the white paper moustaches, and then pinned them to felt and cut!  Yes, they're just felt.  If you buy thicker felt they're nice and stiff.  I didn't have the access to thicker felt, so I bought regular felt and used two pieces together and lots of white glue.  I rubbed the white glue into the material on the back side (in case it showed up).  The glue soaked nicely into the felt with no residue and the moustaches are nice and stiff.
