Table food (mints, m&m's etc,) troubles

We are having several hor dourves at our reception (veggies, fruit, crackers & cheese, and a chocolate fountain) but I am debating on having mints, m&m's or candies on each table... only because I have never been to a wedding where they didn't have those on the tables... what do you think?

I've never been to a wedding that HAD those on the tables... so I don't think they're necessary (obviously). If you're going to do candy, I think the candy bar always looks better than a few dishes out here or there. Just so I'm clear, are you having food other than hors d'oeurvres and a chocolate fountain?

Haha, yes we are having a buffet, but hors d'oeurvres and drinks before dinner. Maybe it's just a regional thing... I just don't want people to think we are cheap for not having mints or candies or something on the tables.

On another note, I was thinking of a candy bar, but I wouldn't have a clue as to how much candy to provide and am unsure how much it will cost. Do you know how much those tend to be?

All the weddings I've been to, do have things like that.  Mint, nuts, little candies...totally optional IMO.  We won't have them because I don't think they are entirely necessary.

Yeah, I think you're good. Personally, I'd rather have bread and butter (or olive oil) on the tables than the sweets.

I am guessing you are from ether KY or a state on that part of the country because I also grew up with the same thing. every wedding had the little Jordan wedding almonds on the table, you know the little pastel colored ones they sell in the wedding isle at walmart lol. You could always put a few in a round piece of tulle in your wedding colors and tie them with ribbon and use them as ether your favors or just 'a little extra" that guests in your area will think is sweet. They are like $2.00 a bag of a bunch of them so cheap.  here is a pic of what i am suggesting. BTW just in case anyone wonders why we use them at weddings is because they are supposed to bring good luck. they are a weir type of tradition but a good one I think.

or if you are extra crafty then you can do these below

I've never been to a wedding with them (I'm from Michigan) and I definitely don't think you'd need them with the yummy hors d'ouvres you'll be serving.

I won;'t have any of those things on my table either. Not worth the $$ when any time I've seen them most is a waste. I am doing Hershy Kisses in navy organza bags as favors, edible sweet and sure not to go to waste.

Ive never been to a wedding with those things being served. I've been to showers where they've done that... I think your hors d'oeurvres  are enough

It's a tradition out here in Idaho too! Every traditional wedding I've been to has had them, but usually only at the cake table. But I think that if you choose to forego them for whatever reason, if anyone even noticed that they were missing no would really care. :)
