Ordaining a Friend

I need some more information on getting a friend ordained for a wedding.  I know they have to do the online ordination, but is there anything else that needs to be done in the state of Wisconsin for it to be legal???

Its not legal in WI? Not the simple ordain-a-friend-for-a-day stuff anyway.
http://www.burnettcounty.com/DocumentView.aspx?DID=126 This is our county's excerpt from the WI statutes. page 4. It sucks for us too.  We wanted a friend to marry us too.

Yes, you can do this in WI.  I have witnessed a friend marrying a friend AND my fiance is marrying two friends of ours.  He went to this website: http://www.themonastery.org/ to "become a minister."

The website states, "You are about to legally become an ordained minister, and / or a priest to perform religious services through the Universal Life Church Monastery."  This way your friend is authorized with a religious denomination and will therefore fall under #1 in "who CAN marry you" in your Burnett Co documentation.

I agree with rungirl12. We had a friend get ordained and marry us, she went through the same site as PP. The only issue we had was that our friend lives in Nevada, so she had to get a letter from someone who is ordained in WI, saying she could marry us.

Hi ladies..can someone clarify this issue for me?  FH and I live in OR but plan on getting married in WI (Sheboygan Cty).  We'd like a family friend to marry us, who also lives in OR.  It seems from the above that if he gets ordained as a minister, that's ok (?) but can someone clarify whether there are additional steps...do we need a local minister to allow our friend to marry us?  If so, does anyone have a recommendation on a local minister?  We have no contacts in WI.  Thanks in advance!

My friend just contacted someone who was ordained through the same place as her and mailed a letter saying she could marry in Wisconsin. She said that it wasn't that hard to do. GL!

We are getting married in Madison, Wisconsin, and my uncle, who is from Illinois, is officiating the wedding.  Here are links for getting ordained legally through the Universal LIfe Church, and ordering a sponsorship letter for out of state officiants.
