Affordable Hotel Reception?

I have so many guests coming in from out of town I feel like I should at least check out some hotels even though most are out of my budget. Does any one know of any hotels that have nice ballrooms that aren't a ton of money? Or anyones that allow outside catering (i know, slim chance)?

Thanks!!!

I am having mine at the Sheraton Safari. It's not one of the more popular places but it was the most affordable. The sit down dinner I believe is 40-45 per person and they do the cake cutting, champagne toast etc. I have all of my family coming in from out of town and they gave us a pretty good group rate.

I recommend the Wyndham Orlando Reception. The contact there is Donna at 407-351-2420. She has been fantastic and I couldn't be happier with everything at the Wyndham! GL!

Hi!! I'm a newbie/lurker. I'm using the Holiday Inn Lake Buena Vista and they are really working with my $5500 reception budget for 125 people. Her name is Kathleen Hawthorne her number is 407-827-7063.

Shades of Green on Walt Disney World (but it's a military resort) If you have a military sponsor,  Bonny Bailey is absolutely fabulous!  Prices start from $19 up to about $40 depending on what you want.

You might also want to check something in the Marriott family. They're great hotels and have average prices.

I would think you'd have to go through the hotel though for catering..

I have to second happe2gether.. I talked to SO MANY people who were like "you have to have it at shades of green, its perfect."  Unfortunately, we do not have any friends that are active military.  My FBIL along with several others were previously in the military, but they have to be active from what I was told.  =(

I've sent out some e-mails to the places you've suggested, thanks so much. As for Shades of Green I'll have to check it out. I've heard of it before but not as a wedding venue so we'll see.

I cannot tell  you excited we are to having our wedding there.  One of the best parts was the price for the ballroom.  We basically get a large ballroom plus 2 additional attached rooms, an outdoor area and a prefunction area for $1K.  The Special Events Director, Bonny Bailey, is fabulous! So if you can find a sponsor, I say go for it.  Plus the cost of food is also cheap.  We have a long time before our wedding date but with about 200 guests, the dinner I'm looking at right now will cost only about $4,000.  Their menu pricing varies from low to average price.
