Filter Building Brides

I originally decided against the Filter Building because of the DIY and outside vendors (catering). I wanted an all-in-one location. I am now re-thinking this as it may be a cheaper option for my budget.
So ladies if I opt for location like above what additional/rental services will I need to look into? Linen, center pieces, docorations, etc

more research- I feel like I haven't accomplished anything.

Thanks

Re: Filter Building Brides

  • I'm a filter bride and honestly I think the fact that we have the decor restrictions makes it a pretty good deal.  Since it's such a beautiful venue it really doensn't need a whole lot.  I love that I don't have to worry much about decor there.  You will need linens and centerpieces.  The outside catering is a blessing really.  I'm using a restaurant that I like and even with the 'off the list' fee that you have to pay the filter building for not using a preferred caterer it's still a really good deal.  The chairs that the Filter Building rents are at the lowest price you'll find but depending on your guest count you might have to order more from a vendor.

Feel free to PM me anything else.  :)

  • Here is what our vendor list says:

DIY:  Other than chairs and tables which can be rented through the venue for very cheap, everything is DIY.
Exclusions: Requires security for event, and valet parking for events over 100 guests.

Also, most brides that go with a DIY venue such as this also usually invest in a Day of Coordinator so that is something to also think about.

My friend who got married at WP rented from Ducky Bob's I think.  She had the chairs set up outside for the ceremony, and then we brought them in for dinner and reception (it was supposed to be just the ushers carrying chairs, but it started raining and we had no tent).  Her caterer was Black Eyed Pea -- delicious.

For linens, I don't know who she used.  She works for Michael's so I know most of her decor came from there.  Like KHolly said, you can go really simple on decorations.  You should definitely check out the classifieds thread at the top of the page -- I'm sure lots of girls have stuff for sale pretty well-priced.  A few girls might even sell you linens.

  • JennG - I just booked the Filter Building 2 weeks ago, so I am wading through all of this. I am totally happy with my decision, though. From what I have been reading, most of the mid-scale caterers are happy to accomodate any budget, I know there was even a bride on here somewhere that got Eddie Deens for 11/pp.
I am ecstatic that I don't have to worry about much decor.
I am also 100% sold on getting a day-of coordinator, and have already interviewed a few. They are seeming to run in the 700-1000 range.

I don't have much advice, but as the weeks go by hopefully I will ! Good luck!
OH and you can PM me if you want. :)
