Am i too laid back???

As I go through other posts I feel I am to lax on my wedding planning. Should I be more persistent so to say? I have everything but a photographer booked dresses ordered an idea of what the tuxes will look like same with the centerpieces and design of the reception. I am going to print out the save the dates tomorrow. I know the invites and we have begun our registry. we cant do much with the church right now we start classes in march. I am just worried I am procrastinanting too much?

  • I feel like I am in kind of a similar situation. I see all you ladies posting your checks, all your s**t is together, and I am jealous. I am in a wedding slump. Things are moving forward, but I am severely lacking motivation!

I wouldn't say your procastinating. By the sounds of it you've got almost everything done. (Which is awesome).

I had most things booked right when we got engaged. I wanted what I wanted and didn't want to miss out because the were already booked, so I booked my church, venue and photographer the month after we got engaged. I actually bought my dress the same day I booked my Photographer. I think I got everything done right away that now its just small stuff that meh, i'll get to it when I get to it.

I'd say you're in good shape. I wouldn't worry too much about procastinating.

  • Eh, everyone will move at their own pace.  The only thing you really need to get married is a marriage licence and someone to declare you married.  Everything else is just icing on the cake!  You do what you can and check off what you can.  Whatever you don't get done is fine because at the end of the day you'll still be MARRIED!  Yay!!!

I'm planning on doing no planning for a period of two months.  I'm trying to get way ahead right now because once we move, I'm not going to want to do anything...
  • I wouldn't say you are lacking either.  I work two jobs (55+ hours a week) so I feel the anxiety to get as much done as possible before I break down and have a nervous breakdown.  ;-)

  • I'm feeling pretty laid back as well.  But who says we all have to be neurotic, overzealous brides?  I think its a positive thing that we are keeping things in perspective and taking it easy.  Things are getting done and each day we are closer to marrying our FHs. I work and commute for long hours like Goofy so I take advantage of any chance to kick back.  Plus it's so cold and wintry here in Michigan and I think that can make me feel sluggish.  When me and FH got engaged it was May and then more summer months came so planning and visiting vendors was fun in the warm weather.  It's natural now I want to stay inside and only do what I have to.  I'm sure as spring hits I'll be running full steam again.
  • You are definitely not too laid back! The most important advice I've received from multiple people is to not letting planning a wedding consume my life. So FI and I have agreed that when we feel like we've been wedding crazy for a couple of days, we'll take a step back and just enjoy each other's company. It's been great - and I find that the couple of days we are doing a lot of planning, we get a lot done.

I'm learning to enjoy the entire process and not to stress about other people's planning pace. Go at your own pace - that's the best way to stay stress free and happy :)

  • I think you are on a good pace! Our last vendor is the florist. My bridesmaids still have not ordered their dresses, but they said 14 weeks + 1 month for alterations - and I know which ones, so I think as long as they are ordered by mid to late Feb we should be fine. I find that I go through spurts - and I get consumed and I have to remind myself that I have other things that I need to do. I just want to enjoy the wedding planning with my fiance and not feel stressed about it. So going at your own pace is the way to go.
  • I went through a period where I did no wedding planning for almost two months.  Work was my life- holiday season in a retail store is brutal and whenever I was home I crashed.  I took advantage of my week off and got caught up.  And to not get overwhelmed I'm conquering booking one vendor at a time.  It keeps me focused and calm!
