Just Engaged and Proposals

What items should be knocked off the list first?

I just got engaged over Christmas (ya!) and we are having a very short engagement so what should be done first? I am excited and scared I won't get it all done by July.

First sit down with your Fi and discuss the three most important things for each of you (i.e. food, big wedding, small wedding, photographer, etc). And both discuss the tone (black tie, backyard BBQ, church, etc).

After you have an idea of the important things & tone for each of you then figure out:

    1. Budget (if no one has offered, the budget that your FI and you can afford alone)
    2. A rough guest list (so you know how big the venue needs to be)
    3. Venue

    (then dress/photographer/etc)

  • Agree that you should think about the tone you want first, and the size/budget for your event.  I was glad I got my dress early on because that helped set the tone for other things.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
