Looking for input on my centerpieces...

My venue provides three vases of varying heights for each table, floating candles for each vase, and a mirror to go underneath it.  I purchased some table number luminaries off of a fellow Knottie for a dollar apiece.  I really am not a fan of the mirror, so I bought some scrapbook paper that matches my colors. My florist has silk orchids that I can submerge in each vase.  I usually am not a fan of silk flowers, but in water they look fine. I did a quick mock-up, and I need something more:

Any ideas? They're only costing me $3.25 a piece, I just don't want them to look that cheap, lol.

I thought maybe adding some scattered fresh orchids, rose petals or some sort of rocks??  I really don't know.
There will be tall centerpieces in the room, too...but I still haven't figured those out yet.
Thanks!!!!

My centerpieces were really similar to that.

    Here's my feedback:
-The will look a little different when there is water and floating candles in them.  I would do a test with water in there, just to make sure that the flowers don't float up strangely.

-I don't know how I feel about the luminary part.  I LOVE the way it looks, but I feel like it looks odd with the other vases?  What if you added a third shorter vase, and pulled the table number off to the side a bit.  Like so that it looks like it's separate from the centerpiece?  Or, what if you used a tall cylinder, the luminary as a middle height, and made the third cylinder the shortest of all?

-Also, see what it looks like with water and candles without the flowers too.  You might like that look better.  I'm not saying that it will look better, you should just give it a look.  In a dim room works best because I'm assuming that's the kind of lighting you'll have at your venue.

Sorry about the novel!  Hopefully it wasn't too annoying : )

-I would add a second piece of scrapbook paper under the centerpiece.  (That's what we did and I loved it!)  It would be a good place to pull in a second color or a subtle print.

-Instead of sprinkling flower petals, what if you added 3 small votive candles around the outside of the vases?  They sell them for like 33 cents at Libbey glass, or I'm thinking about selling the ones from my wedding.

Thanks, Abbey.  My venue provides a third shorter vase, but I bought these ones at Libbey for a mock-up, and they didn't have a third shorter one.

The votives are a good idea, and I saw those at Libbey.  That is an idea.

I am a little concerned about the paper...If people get food on it, I think it is going to stain and not look very good.  I may go the cloth route instead.

Thanks for your help and your centerpieces looked great! Did you do some tall ones as well?

from working at a country club, and seeing people want to do this all the time... just make sure there is enough room above the flower in the water to float a candle!! soo many times we get these in and we cant float the candles because there isnt enough room. also... try out more than one flower to make sure they will sink. we just had a wedding a couple weeks ago that did this with silk roses and only about 20% of them actually stayed in the water. an option is to get something to weigh it down, or something to put in the bottom of the vases to stick the flower in (example: small rocks to wedge the stem between)

also, try adding some votives around the centerpieces. little tea lights can go a long way for just adding that extra touch a center piece needs

Personally I would go with mirrors under the centerpiece, as I really like how mirrors look under candles.  However, if you are not fond of that idea, I think I would use something other than paper under the centerpiece.  In your mock-up, it just looks cheap to me (sorry!).  I think it's because the corners are kind of bending up.  Also, I think since your centerpieces will have water, you may have problems with the paper looking silly if any of the water spills over.  I think a piece of fabric of some sort would look nicer underneath.  I might suggest renting fabric napkins from one of the party places around here.  I think those are around 30 cents a piece.

    Just my two cents.

If you are worried about the paper getting wet you could always have them laminated at Kinkos. I really like the way it looks. I think it would be nice to add some votives, rose petals or both.
