Where should we go for our honeymoon?

*Sigh* we need to make a decision soon....

I dont want to go on a cruise bcuz my friends and I are going on one in April. I have been to Jamaica and Grand Cayman. I would love to do Hawaii but dont want to spend 14 hours each way on a plane. Which leaves us in the Carribbean. But where? Martinique? Guadeloupe? Antigua? Anguilla? St. Kitts? I dont want to do DR only because if we are going to DR i would feel bad if we didnt go to Haiti since we still both have family there. So...that's out too.

HELP!!!

Ooh they all sound great! I don't know anything about any of those places except that in French Martinique they speak French, so I'd want to go there. ;)

Ok Maria thanks! St. kitts wasn't really on my list either! LOL, i just had to throw some of those out there!

Alyssa- I would love to go to Martinique too...we found 1 hotel that was just what we were looking for, but then price was like 6800-7500 and it wasn't even all inclusive! So... we had to back down. None of the other hotels were good enough (IMO).

We saw this new hotel that was just made in Antigua. It looks fabulous and recently ppl came back from their vacations and said that it was awesome! Right now, if we went for a week, including fair and hotel room that has a king size bed and a plunge pool on the balcony, plus breakfast, it would be like 2600. Which is AMAZING! The price dropped 1000 from a few weeks ago and I'm thinking that maybe we should snatch it now...but then again...i dont know if thats where we should go! *sigh*

I've heard Antigua is pretty.  What about Costa Rica?

Oh i never thought of that one! Hmmm...interesting!

I'm glad you heard Antigua is pretty though!

Antigua sounds good! The price and reviews sound great, too! I think you probably can't go wrong with whatever you choose, so don't stress over it. (Easier said than done, right?)

I've always wanted to go to Costa Rica, but not for the touristy stuff, I want to go do research in the rainforests. :) I didn't even know Costa Rica had famous beaches for the longest time.

    Thanks Alyssa :)

I always thought of Costa Rica and rainforests in the same sentence! i dont know if it would be too rainforest-y for me! LOL. But i will look into it. But i can't go wrong with the prices in Antigua either!

St Lucia is supposed to be the East Coast Hawaii. You should check it out. FI and I took a cruise a few years back and stopped in Antigua. It wasn't anything to write home about.

    Aww shucks!

My sister went to St. Lucia for her honeymoon, and i just dont want to go to the same place she went to! I dont want to re-write history. It's already bad enough i'm getting married at the same age that she was! LOL.

I went to Barbados awhile ago and it was amazing! I'm not sure if it was the people on the island or what. I just remember it being beautiful.  :)  Good luck!

I think that hotel sounds awesome! You can make it amazing, even if it isn't the best place to visit in the Caribbean.

It's really far away but Bermuda is one of my favorite places I've ever been to.  St. John's was kind of boring and not as nice.

My twin sister went to Saint Lucia for her HM and I didn't want to go there, too, for the same reason as you.  But she highly recommended it and my FI really wanted to go.  Also, FI didn't want a long plane ride, so Hawaii and Tahiti were out of the question. I wanted to go to Greece, but I decided to wait so FI and I could go with my sis and her DH.

I stopped at Antigua for a cruise and I really liked it but I think there's more to do and see in Barbados.

Can highly recommend Aruba... loads going on there, nicely developed and a wide range of things to do.

    Good luck!!

cjbwifey - I worked on a cruise ship which went to Aruba every week and it's a fab island.

The 2 hotels I would recommend are the Renaissance in Orenjestad which has good facilities, nicely laid out but is not by the beach (but has an awesome pool overlooking the port). Or if you want to be by the beach there's an area of high rise hotels on Palm Beach and the Hyatt is one of the best. Beautiful hotel right on the beach and I'm sure that beach offers a variety of activities to do during the day.

    Good luck picking!

Jazzy- thanks for your help! I actually looked at both of them! I saw the Hyatt and knows that the best man knows a person there that could get us a discount on the price! I wouldnt mind staying at their place! We will see what happens next!

I didnt really want to stay in a "hotel" per se, i really wanted to stay on a resort, but i think i may have to give up this idea if the price is right! LOL

I will definitely keep you posted! Now i think im going to compare what there is to do on both islands to see which one fits our personalities better. I think i may be leaning towards Aruba though...lots to see other than beaches!

Aruba was one of my top choices instead i will do a cruise.  but I also hear the Marriott Stellaris in Aruba is great.  They supposedly have year round great weather and I have heard nothing but good things.  Though I havent been there myself I know many who have.  They also IMO have reasonble prices for flights.  Its also very safe as I know a family who is super cautious and they feel safe there...with common sense of course. But I love that its not like you are scared to leave the resort.  Let us know what you decide.

I think that I would choose St. Lucia or the Cayman Islands.  I have wonderful things about both.  Grand Cayman is supposed to be very, very clean and and also safe.  I think they have a place where you can swim with stingrays?

Also, I know a couple that went to Anguilla and thought it was beautiful. That would be a very different destination.  Although I  think that is more of a lay around on the beach and relax type of place instead of a "see and do" type of place.  It depends on what you are looking to do on your honeymoon.

I also know some people that went to Aruba but would not recommend it.

Good luck and of course, let us know what you decide!

I definitely will keep you all posted!

kpabis- I dont want to go to St. Lucia because my sister went there for her honeymoon. Even though it is nice, i would prefer to just do it elsewhere. I've been to Cayman Islands, and IMO it really wasn't anything to write home about. It was nice...but i dont believe that I would want to go back and spend a week there, it just isnt my cup of tea!

Anguilla IS a really nice place to go to, but you're right...it's just a relaxing on the beach kind of place. I need a little more than that.

I think that's what im going to start doing now...comparing some of the islands and the activities that can be done on them!

Thanks for all of your help!

I vote Antigua or Aruba.  I think Costa Rica would be really cool too but like you said it is very rain forresty.  A friend of mine went there recently with his family and they did stuff like go on zip lines in the rain forrest and hike and play in the waterfalls.
So exciting!!!! Anywhere you choose will be great!
