Booking Rooms at the Pok Grand

OK so at this point I am probably being paranoid and way overthinking things, but we are probably going to book our ceremony and reception at the Grandview and one of the big pluses to us is the shuttle to the Pok Grand.

I started thinking about it today and wondering if the Pok Grand gets full with all the weddings at the Grandview and the Pok Grand.  I already know mine will be the 3rd wedding at the Grandview on my day, and then there will be 1 or 2 more at the Pok Grand, not to mention Sunday weddings at both locations that might have guests staying overnight on Saturday.

I decided to shoot an email to the Grandview just to ease my mind, and the response I got back was "Each bride is guaranteed a block of (10) rooms plus the (5) complimentary rooms and the honeymoon suite."

That's nice that we are guaranteed 15 rooms for our guests, but we are planning on having 100-130 guests, most of whom we expect to stay at the Pok Grand.

Ladies who got married at the Grandview or Pok Grand, did your guests have any difficulty getting rooms at the Pok Grand?  TIA

My original date was in Oct and between the other weddings and the leaf peepers, I was also concerned.
I included all the hotel information with the save the dates and mentioned that the rooms book quickly during their busy season and recommened they book early.

I have never heard of anyone having an issue to the point of them running out of rooms.

We had absolutely no problem, but our wedding was also on a Thursday night. Like the PP said, I would just encourage your guests to book early. I have a feeling it's not a big problem, because I've never heard that it is, and between the Grand and Grandview there are several weddings every weekend. If I were you, I'd get your close circle of family and friends to book immediately. Once you fill 10 rooms, they'll open you up 10 more, and then you'll be up to 25 rooms.

I agree. I'm getting married at the Grandview as well! I feel like if it had been a problem, they would have changed it long ago being that they have multiple events each weekend. I wouldn't worry!

I am having my reception at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel on October 16th.  The hotel was full by July!  Half my wedding has to stay at another hotel.  Not a huge deal... but I would have liked to know that before.  Please don't rely on this hotel for rooms.

Like pp said, they guarantee all the weddings get a block of 10. But when you fill that they will release to your block another 10 rooms.

    Don't wait to book!

Send save the dates with hotel info, and tell guest to book early! It might also be wise to set another hotel block (Hampton perhaps? ) So that once (if) the grand gets booked full, you can guide your guets with another place to go.

    Good luck!

(Also, the weekend that you get married willl make a difference as well, will the hotel be booked with just Grand / Grandview wedding guests or other reasons as well)

Thanks everyone for the feedback!  I guess you are right, I will just have to be clear with my guests to book early and if they don't listen that's not my fault.  I am probably also going to reserve some rooms at another hotel that is a bit more budget because I know some of my friends and family might not want to or can't afford to pay the Pok Grand rate.

My wedding will be in Oct 2011 so I am concerned about leaf peepers too.  I'll probably send STDs out next month with hotel info.

We were married at the Grandview about 3 years ago and they had 7 weddings at the grandview alone that weekend, 2 Friday (one was ours) 3 Saturday and 2 Sunday- plus the ones that the Grand. We sent out the Save the Dates in December for our July wedding and we had 30 rooms with no issue :) Like everyone said- have people book early.
