We just had our wedding last saturday and we went with Sound by Design, which was listed by this website as the best of 2010. We would not recommend this company to anyone. The DJ we received was arrogant and incompetent, see examples below.
1) In the contract it stated that they would bring in lights and extra sound equipment. Neither showed up. The DJ just tried to use the lights already there (way too bright) and the music was quiet.
2) Sound by Design is supposed to have a sophisticated online music selection system. Using this system, we chose our first song months ago and yet THEY DID NOT HAVE THE FIRST DANCE SONG AT THE WEDDING. This was absolutely ridiculous.
3) The DJ was specifically instructed on the time and song for the bouquet toss. However, it never happened.
4) After the wedding, we received multiple (at least 10) complaints from attending the wedding saying they went up to request a song and the DJ was extremely rude to them, saying he could not do it because it would upset his 'flow'. I could not believe the arrogance.
5) The final song played was a crude dance song that the DJ stated, 'Was requested by the bride'. This was not true.
Overall, the Sound by Design DJ was overpriced, arrogant, and incompetent. We would advise anyone having their wedding in the near future to not use their services.
