Today I went wedding-clothes shopping with my best friend A and her daughter Little A, and found something I loved in the right color and the right price range! I'll have pictures up as soon as I can take them without FI seeing. The sari is currently hiding in my mom's house where he can't sneak a look at it before the wedding. The sari is red with silver and pale gold beadwork on it. I'm going to ask my seamstress of a great-aunt to help me with the blouse (the blouse fabric is attached), because I'm not really ok with shelling out $30 to have the sari shop's seamstress do it for me when I have family who can do it for me.
A found herself a gorgeous chocolate-brown salwar kameez with gold beading, plus bangles and a neckace set to match. Little A got an adorable teal-and-purple salwar kameez with gold accents, and purple and gold bangles to go with it. J (roommate/bridesmaid) was too sick to come with us today and is in a tight spot, money-wise. She's more than likely going to borrow my green sari; we're just going to make her a skirt and plain top to go with it because we don't wear the same size.
In other news... one of FI's coworkers has bunnies that need a home in a few weeks. J has been complaining that she's "turning 27 and in need of something to mother," so he asked her if she wanted a bunny. Well, now she's bouncing off the walls happy, lol. The plan is still to get a couple of kittens after the baby arrives, but we figure a female rabbit is less likely to be territorial about a newborn, while 4 months is plenty of time for a cat to stake its claim to the house. I've been told by many cat owners that it's easier to bring a new kitten into a home with a baby than it is to bring a new baby into a home with a kitten.
...Yes, we're starting a zoo, and no, I have no issue with this. I've never lived in an animal-free home - even my own apartment had at least one pet-type critter in it.
