Just back from S.FLA......meet with everyone!

Hello all. Just got home last night. Met with everyone I booked with. I am SO pleased thus far. Steve Lawson - amazing. Absolutely personable. I almost didn't go with him bc of cost; however I am glad we chose him. Creations by Blanca- loved her ideas. Came in under budget! Pleasant and business oriented, which is how I am. Perfect match. Gallery of Cakes - Toni and Yonnie area amazing. Tasting was DELISH. Lovely people. We knew the same circles of S.FLA Jewish geography. Jenny Bowen Berger - Trial hair and makeup was fab. There was confusion on cost. However when I showed her the correspondence she adjusted. Held to her word. Impressive. Loved the look she created. Acqualina- need I say more? Although Susan Westlehoff is hard to connect with via phone - she had everything ready to go - went over everything. And was amazing. Jennifer Johnson - DOC - got along great. I feel she truly understands what we want. Had great suggestions and we will implement some! Aroma Catering - Randy John was fabulous for tasting back in Dec and via phone/email. However this meeting he "dissed" one of the venues we initially looked --- to my mother which wasn't very cool. He basically called the Shane Center a dump. Now it is a REC center and can't compete with the Acqualina; however I thought it was very unprofessional for him to do that. We are from OOT and planning long distance and looked at everything online. So his comments were very much uncalled for and out of place. With this said - I will say that he did get us into the Acqualina for a Sunday brunch at the same price as the Shane Center. And the menu is spectacular. I have to approach Randy / Aroma and not sure how to. Down to 72 days. Invites are out. I think we are almost ready. Yeah!!!!! Eva & Jon

Gosh, you got a lot of stuff done!!!! That's awesome :)

Gallery of cakes is one of the vendors I'm going to contact so I'm happy to see your post. However, I gotta disagree with your caterer about the Shane Center (kind of harsh). It's the location which FI and I decided to book our reception since we wanted to bring in all of our vendors especially catering. The location is certainly not a dump and it transforms really nicely in the right hands :) Although we were never considering Aroma as a possible vendor...I would hate to work with someone who thinks poorly about our reception venue.

Btw, what price did he give you for brunch? You said it was the same one as the Shane Center? I'm asking because the Shane Center doesn't offer any catering or any preferred vendors.
  • YAY!!!! .... So GLAD you went with Steve Lawson!!! He is by far the most AMAZING photographer I have ever seen and worked with!  You will not be disappointed AT ALL!  I have my wedding pics if you wanna take a sneak peak at the work he does!

Also, my suggestion, if it's within your budget, try and go with a videographer.  I origianlly didn't want one, and my then fiance told me that the only memory from his father that he has, meaning no pictures or anything because it's all at his brother's house, is the video casette (wow dating that right there!) from his brother's wedding.  After hearing that, and seeing him watch it a few times when he misses his father, made me decide to REALLY get a videographer.  I went with Michelle Lawson Photography for the videographer, easier for me to keep it in the same company, and I was definitely MORE then pleased with it!

    Just a thought!!! =)

  • Wow you got alot done!!

I am looking into booking hair and MU and spoke with Jenny Bowen Berger.  I was wondering how much she was charging you for everything?  Her prices to me seemed a little on the higher side.  Thanks

We LIKED Shane Center. And we were shocked at his statement.

HE got s into Acqualina (Sunny Isles Beach) for just a few hundred more than Shane Center. He is their Kosher Caterer for Peasach.

Ah okay, gotcha! I know the Acqualina building pretty well since my dad was a contractor when it was being built.
