Tan?

Soooo...I have really pale skin and burn really easily (also a family history of skin cancer) so needless to say I don't ever go to tanning beds and its practically impossible for me to get a tan :).  I have gotten spray tanned at Palm Beach Tan before and was thinking of doing it for the wedding, but I'm nervous that it will rub off on my dress and stain it.   What is everyone else doing about tans or what do you all think I should do??

Re: Tan?

  • I think as long as you don't plan on going the day before, the tan shouldn't rub off on your dress (as long as you've showered a few times).
  • Agree with PP, go 2-3 days before :)

  • If you are concerned, why not do a test run in the next few weeks?  Long enough so that you know the color, how long before it starts to come off, and then you can make sure that it won't rub off on any clothes.

I've never been spray tanning before so I need to do a test so I know which color I want!  Don't want to look like an oompa-loompa on the big day!

  • I am so glad to see this thread.  I have been thinking about a spray tan because I am SOOOO pale but was wondering about the timing.  I don't want to look like one of those Toddlers and Tiaras girls.

  • I was wondering the exact same thing earlier this week!
I've been looking into TanTowel tanning wipes, they have good reviews and are pretty affordable.

Either way, I'd def. recommend a trial run (I know I will... i'm crazy pale so too much color would just look way weird)

  • Consider trying the Jergens gradual tan lotion.  You can put it on everyday and build a tan up until the wedding.  It gave me a nice hint of color when I used it before.

  • As someone who has done virtually every type of tanning out there, I highly recommend the new Mystic tan booths. They are heated and comfortable and the spray comes out very nice and even. In my region they run about $35 a piece, and last me about 10 days. I LOVE how they make me glow! Definitely do a couple of test runs between now and then to determine the level of color you want and see how long it lasts for you. I also have had no trouble with the color staining white clothes.

  • I got a graudaul spray tan from the drug store (theres also 2 different types, for light, med, and dark skin), so you start using it about a week, after you shower until its the color you want, andd then  you just use it once a week or so after that. I tried it last week, and its really natural looking and a week later is about perfect, So I will probably use it 2 weeks before teh wedding to get the color and then do a last coat about 5 days before the wedding.

  • The Mystic Tan booths are what I've done before so I know which color looks best on me (now if I could remember which color it was......).  Although its been a while since I've gone so I would definitely go back before the wedding to test it out.  My shower is March 24th and I was thinking of going before that too.  Before I've found that since I'm so pale I need to go 2 times within 3 days to get the color I want.  I can't remember which color I chose before though lol.

Thanks everyone!!  I will definitely go a couple of days beforehand (maybe Thursday before) :).  I'm glad that I'm not the only pale skinned person out there :)
