who?! a floral specialist? well can you recommend one?

I was told to find a floral specialist to put on paper and design my vision, and to then come back to the florist to complete my order. I have no idea where to find one of these. I do not even have a clue to what I want let alone a vision... if any of you know anyone please let me know. I'm in the triangle area, but can do Wendell Kightdale Garner Raleigh.

I was under the impression that florists did that...unless you are going to a palce just to buy the flowers and put them together yourself, most florists will sit down with you, listen to what you are picturing, and make suggestions.  I have never heard of a florist telling a bride to go hire someone else to design the floral arrangements.

Is there a particular reason you are using this florist?  If not, I would recommend going somewhere else with a florist who is willing to help you put together something you love.

If you are just biuying the flowers and plan on putting the arrangements yourself, then I guess you would need to come up with a plan before ordering the flowers.  But you could just do that by looking through magazines, websites to find what you like.

Yeah. . .that's a really strange thing to have to look for. I've never heard of something like that. I too was under the impression that the florist sat down with you and helped come up with the design.  (Similar to Cake bakers... they help you design the look of your cake).

As pp said, unless youre really set on using this person, I'd really just look for someone else that can do the complete job and not have you hire others, unnecessarily.

If you go the DIY route, I'd use google it get ideas :)

It sounds like your florist is a lot like the baker I used.  Good at execution, not so great at designing from scratch.

Keep shopping around for a florist.  You'll be able to find one that will help you decide on types of flowers and help you come up with a "vision".  Or, you'll find one who appreciates being given some creative freedom

Yeah that's really weird.  I have no clue where you would hire such a person; I thought that's what the florist is for!

That is odd.  If you are looking for a good florist.  Mews-designs is wonderful.  She definitely helped "put my vision" together.  She was very creative.  I had a friend use her too and she loved her.  My friend had very specific ideas and she worked well with this florist too.  Shes in the Raleigh area.
