what do you do when you dont like your hairstylist?!

So I just had my wedding hair trial this weekend with a stylist that has been holding my july date for the past couple of months. Not only did I not like the way she did my hair, but when I politely asked her if she could change something, she got mad that she had to take my hair out and start over again. When she was leaving my house, she told me she would call me as it got closer to the date so we could figure out the time and everything.  The thing is, I dont think i want to use her. Now I don't know what to do. Is it wrong of me to call her and tell her that I no longer wish to use her for the wedding, even though she has been holding my date for me for months? Or should I just do another trial with her and hope its better? If I do cancel, what do I even say to her without sounding like I hated her work? ughh..i definitely need all your help on this one

I would cancel sooner rather than later.  Did you put down a deposit with her?  You don't have to go into detail, just tell her - perhaps over email (or is that too cowardly) - that you decided to go a different direction with your hair, based on the trial.

Small rant - I think women often end up being poor consumers because we are afraid of hurting people's feelings, etc., so we accept poor quality work and/or poor customer service when we shouldn't.
Also, any pro hairstylist should be able to get another booking for 3 months from now, if she's any good (and if she's not, well then, them's the breaks and not your fault).

Did you sign a contract with her? If not then I would call her and tell her that you no longer need her for that date. If she ask why (and she probably will) I would be honest and tell her you were not happy with the trial. I know this is a hard thing to do but it will help her with her business going further.  Good luck.

Ok so I called the hairstylist this  morning and told her thanks, but no thanks! and I made an appointment with Eve Whittington for a hair trial this weekend (I've heard from others as well that Eve is really good). Thanks for all of your help ladies!

A professional should never conduct herself like that; that's the whole point of having a trial.  I had a make-up one that went bad; I knew she wouldn't be able to get it right, so I didn't bother and found someone else.  Glad it worked out.

Good for you!  If she was that concerned holding a date she should have asked you to sign a contract.  You don't need to stick with anyone just because you don't want to hurt their feelings.

I am using Sachiko Yanase. The trial was $100 but was over 3 hours for both hair and make up. She did airbrush makeup during the trial as well as doing my hair 4 different ways asoptions to consider. I can not rave about her enough.
