  I just told my girls to wear black, and didn't give any other guidelines. Only one ended up with something by a bridal designer (which she got at a thrift store), the others went to Target, a specialty plus-size shop, and her own closet.  If you're looking for re-wear value, it's probably best not to dictate anything but color and maybe length.
