Where to get my wedding dress??

I am going shopping for my wedding dress the beginning of June and trying to get some inputs on where to go. I was going to go to House of Brides but I read the reviews and they are horrible. My budget is around 1,500. I am def going to check out Kathryn's Bridal in McHenry but would love to hear if anyone else knows where would be good to check out.
Thanks!!!
Gina

I highly recommend the Crystal Bride.  It's in downtown Geneva.  I had a wonderful experience there and you would definitely be within budget there.  I've been working with Heather and she's the best.  Good luck with your dress search!

I don't know what the price range of their dresses is, but Volle's in Lake Zurich has a good reputation.  And, although their price point is a bit higher to start (I want to say $800 + ),  I have also heard some good things about L'Amour in Barrington.

My daughter bought her dress and veil from Kathryn's.  We have had nothing but outstanding service there!

What style are you looking for?

Jenny Yoo has some gorgeous wedding dresses, although they're very simple, but they're below your price point and high quality.

I'd stay away from Eva's Bridal on Harlem.  I had bad experiences there.

I've been out to Gigi's Closet in Glenview and thought they were helpful, although kind of snide.

I ordered my dress from HOB  Schaumburg (Linda is my consultant) and it came in about 2 months earlier than we expected.  I had nothing but a good experience with HOB when it came to buying my dress.    I've been getting alterations done there and I'll be picking my dress up next Saturday and my wedding is at the end of the month.

I am a firm believer than the consultant makes a big difference.

I went to one store (that a lot of people I know have gone to)  3 times with an appointment all 3 times and they took people that didn't have an appointment before me and I arrived before them and I had to get myself into the dresses all three times.  But my friend had a great experience when she went there.  I think it just depends.

Hands down Wedding Belles in Barrington - great selection & great prices. All my friends have gotten their dresses there and so did I.  Happy hunting!

I second Crystal Bride in Geneva. Spent 1500 total including veil and some customizations to my dress.   I worked with Rebecca and she was great!

I went to House of Brides to try on wedding dresses there. I've been there numberous times for bridesmaids dresses so I thought going there for my actual dress would make sense. It was horrifying. My consultant was great but had other brides during my consultation so I felt rushed and pressured. So I left very unhappy. Went to Here Comes the Bride in Addison and it felt like home. I recommend every bride to come here. Good luck to you!!!

I got my dress at House of Brides in Chicago and my consultant Nidia was wonderful.  She actually picked the dress I ended up buying!  And it was the second one I tried on.  Dona in alterations has been great too.  I had a very pleasant and painless experience - it was the first and only store I went to, and I picked out my dress and bought it within an hour.  Also, it came in a month after I ordered it!

I wouldn't worry so much about the negative thngs people say - everything to do with a wedding is very emotional.

I got mine at a Joyful Occasion in Naperville.  I bought my Paloma Blanca dress there for $1500.  :)

There were a lot of options in that price range, and I thought they were easy to deal with.

    Good Luck!

I bought my dress at Here Comes the Bride in Addison I had a great experience there both when I went to try on dresses ad=nd when I went back to buy the dress. I had bad experiences at more than one salon and was so happy to go back and deal with the women at Here Comes the Bride.

If you don't find anything that you fall in love with you should go the custom route. You can get exactly what you want, and within budget whatever that might be. I worked with Taylor the owner of Taylor Wilson Style, and she is amazing! She actually made me two dresses for my wedding in August! Her email is taylor@taylorwilsonstyle.com - Good luck!
