Difference between 1080i and 1080p in video?

Hello,

We're thinking of taking a videographer for our wedding but are not sure whether to take the 1080i or to invest extra $$ to have the 1080p. Is there such a noticable difference between the two? What are people's thoughts/experiences?

Thanks!
Tal

How much difference are they charging? because they are both HD.

If you are just getting an HD-DVD, you can safely go with 1080i.  If you want a Blu-Ray disc you will want 1080p.   A 1080p DVD will just be downgraded to a 1080i by your DVD player or HDTV.

If your videographer is smart, they will make the master in 1080p in case they want to try to upsell a BluRay to you.
