Audrey's Flower Shop-Gloucester

I was married in July, and found so much help on the boards.
My brother is getting married in August and is looking at  Audrey's Flower Shop in Gloucester.
Any rants/raves?

We used Audrey's Flower Shop last year for our wedding, and while the flowers came out beautiful, I would still say that I wasn't happy on the "communication" end of dealing with this vendor. I would respond to emails sent to me and not hear back for many weeks. Also, I had very specific instructions about not having those stick things in our centerpieces, and not to have flowers on each layer of our cake- but both things were the opposite of what I had asked on the wedding day. While the flowers did come out lovely (let me know if you want me to email you pics) it took many many emails and meetings to get exactly what I wanted (and even then it wasn't 100% perfect). Hope this helps!

If you are looking for somwhere in Gloucester try Sage or Russells.  I am using Sage and my best friend used Russells.  Russells does TONS of local weddings and is reliable and follows through with their promises from what I've been told.  I went with Sage as they are my parents neighbor and I've had a great time working with them.

I used Audrey's for my wedding as well.  I'd be happy to send you some pictures tonight if you like.  I loved what they did for me.  Flowers weren't one of my higher priorities, so I didn't have a specific idea of what I wanted.  I met with Heather and we went over color schemes and looked through some books for what I did and didn't like.  Once we established that, I pretty much let them come up with something.  We met once more to fine tune and that was it, but they got my feel and vision and I was very happy with what they created.

I reluctantly have to agree with the pp about communication however.  They can be difficult to get in touch with- there are only two of them and I get the sense that they have more work than they can comfortably keep on top of.

I had a good experience with them, but I was pretty hands off.  It depends how much attention you want or how specific your vision is.  I would never want to discourage anyone from using them, just bear it in mind.  Let me know if you want some pics!

We considered going with Audrey's for our wedding, but I had a lot of communication issues were her just like pp noted.  I'm sure she does a nice job with flowers, and her prices were definitely very reasonable, but I just couldn't get over not hearing back for a long time and maybe I'm just anal but I thought they were lacking some in their organizational skills (e.g. the florist I went with sent a detailed quote in an excel file with descriptions and prices whereas Audrey's just e-mailed me some prices with no descriptions whatsoever).

I may be biased because Audrey's did my flowers (and most everyone I know who has been married lately)...and they were incredible. Working with them was a pleasure and I was confident my flowers would be awesome. And they were.

I LIKED that they did not feel the need to continuously call me about my wedding flowers throughout the year.  We met initially two times, came up with the "plan", agreed on the price, and I left it up to them. In fact, they asked me in what manner /how often I would like to communicate with them and I told them I just wanted to NOT worry about the flowers at all.

On the day of the wedding, they were there for the entire set up and made sure everything was perfect. They worked with the photographer to make sure that the photographer got the required shots we wanted. She had even brought extra flowers in the event that something happened or a flower got damaged.

They were true professionals and I enjoyed the pleasure THEY got out of making our wedding specatcular.

I will say also, that I have used this florist for many years for funerals, deliveries, and orders for out of state. I have always found them responsive. Heather is in the shop 6 full days a week and available by phone if not with another client. Would highly recommend.

No hidden agenda, Meg. I was a member and found the site very useful. My sister is getting married and we just logged her in under this name so she could check out the site. I was showing her the chat feature and saw this thread about Audrey's so I replied.

I got married on 9/1/07 (see profile) and I had a great experience with this vendor. I loved working with Audrey's and could not believe the exceptional job she did with my flowers (including pretty specific requests like silver Victorian holders for the small bouquets and large, tall centerpieces with floating lights).

We shopped around the North Shore and found their prices to be very competitive as well. In regards to communication, I always received a phone call or email back right away.

Finally, this florist did the flowers for my father's funeral last May, and my mom and I were again amazed by the quality of work.

Found my planning bio, here's my review from 2007:

Florist – Audrey’s Flower Shop; Gloucester, MA – A+++…… I CANNOT WAIT until I post professional pictures of my wedding. Heather Peterson, the owner of Audrey’s, stayed within our budget ($2000) and gave us seventeen GIGANTIC table arrangements, plus gorgeous bouquets and boutonnieres. She was trained at Winston’s in Boston, so the woman knows what she’s doing. She even put little lights in the vases underwater that glowed after dark, and put the same lights in the water fountain on the terrace. I couldn’t believe what an amazing job she did. If you haven’t picked your florist yet and you’re remotely near the North Shore, look her up. You won’t regret it! www.audreysflowershop.com

We had Mother of bride and groom flowers made there and they were horrible. The flowers were turning a little brown and hardly lasted the day. We were sorry that we couldn;t turn them down but were in a pinch and had no choice. So glad they were booked for the wedding day as I would be afraid to see what the reception flowers would have been like
