Singing during ceremony?

Would like to have a family member sing during our ceremony, but don't have a unity candle or sand ceremony for us to do while singing.  Would it be wierd to just have him sing and we stood there? I know they used to do this years ago, but not sure if it still works today.  Dont want to bore people, or have them uncomfortable.  Thots are appreciated!

Hi there!  Will you be signing the marriage licence/paperwork during your ceremony?  That's always a good time to have a soloist as it's a bit of dead space that needs to be filled.  I always find it awkward when everyone just stands there watching someone sing for 3-4 minutes.

Sure it works today.  I don't see why you'd stand, though.  The entire wedding party can be seated during the solo.
  • Our guests were seating in a tent and we were a few feet away on slightly higher ground. We had a soloist and chose to give him our undivided attention. We stood on each side of him as he sang and we've received no feedback about it looking awkward or anything like that. He was singing a song about us joining together as one and after he sang, we joined hands and began our vows, rings, etc.
