Email RSVP

What does everyone think about email RSVP's? Anyone used them? I'm trying to trim costs where possible and thought this might be a good idea. What do you all think?

Does everyone you are inviting have access to email? I know we have some guests that are not computer savvy.

You really can get very reasonably priced RSVP cards from VistaPrint. I got my Save the Dates from them for $15, and that included shipping. Just an idea.

I agree with Kelly....I think it would end up being more of a hassle then just sending the cards.  You can totally get the 100 free postcards from Vistaprint and use them as an RSVP, just make the wording up.

On another note, I was able to get 200 invites and 200 RSVP cards, plus envelopes for under $200 on Vistaprint.  They always give coupons! The postcards could be good though because they only require the 28 cent stamp rather than the 44 cent ones.

This. We had a lot of older relatives we invited that I am not sure if they even owned a computer.

I would be careful with this one. While you might think you are saving money, you may end up having to call a lot of people to find out if they are coming. And I know for most people time = money. So I guess its really up to you and how well you know your friends and family and whether or not the have internet access.

i have had success with this for other parties (bachelorette and baby showers). i just put a phone number and my email address on the invite so older invitees could call rather than email their RSVP.

i somewhat disagree with the others. i think online RSVPs sound phenomenal. there are some wedding websites that will even allow you to send email reminders to those who haven't RSVP'd to remind them to do so.

let us know what you decide to do.

I decided to use the RSVP feature on our wedding website (www.mywedding.com). It was so easy to set up and I can export the responses to a spreadsheet.  They even have an option to have the meal choices for the guests to choose as well.  I know that I will have to call a few people, but the vast majority of our guest use the internet so I didn't think it would be a big problem.
I also really liked the idea of having the guests RSVP through the website because I have all of the hotel and wedding information on there so I knew that they would see that information as well.

Thanks for all the feedback ladies! And the good ideas.

Our situation is a little unique. We're having a small destination wedding with very close friends and family. 30 people tops. We're then returning home to have a party (with about 200 people invited). Because of this though, we don't have anyone we're inviting that isn't computer savy. All of our grandparents have passed away and we really don't have older relatives to worry about.

I'll definitely look into Vista Print. It's more the cost of the cards and the postage combined that are adding up for me. The wedding dress I found is actually less than the cost of the RSVP cards and postage. Crazy.

Mccalau - I loved what I saw for mywedding.com. Anything you felt was missing from it?

Anyone know of other sites they'd reccomend?

I am doing phone/email RSVP for computer savvy people and then I am sending other RSVP's to my relatives who are older and may not have computers. We are having an informal reception after a destination wedding so my situation is a little different, there can be so many errors with mail delivery that I don't really trust it and with just about everyone owning a PC it just makes sense. Just my two cents ! Laughing
