Dyeing a Polyester Crinoline

Hi ladies - I purchased a crinoline from my bridal shop with the intention of dying it hot pink.  I followed the instructions on the Rit dye, but the top & bottom layers didn't take the dye, they are polyester.  The Rit dye won't work on the polyester.  The tulle dyed perfectly though!  What can I do to get the top & bottom layers to dye?  I need to have this project completed by 8/4 for my final fitting and I don't know what will work!
TIA

do you have a photo of how it looks now?  Will the portion that took the dye show enough color for what you had in mind? BTW -  I LOVE those shoes.

  • You need to buy a dye that works on poly-- yes, they do exist. I recently found a dye called iDye Poly that is designed for just this sort of thing. It's supposed to work on polyester and disolve more easliy than other dyes so it's perfect for beginner dyers. I would look online or at local craft stores.
  • Hi there! I am a designer and you can dye polyester you just need to use the correct dye. Go ahead and google Dharma Trading Company they have a number of different options of dye and colors for just this purpose.
