Guitarist Price for Ceremony

I got a quote from a solo guitarist - he charges $300 for an hour ceremony to play acoustic guitar. Is that too much? There don't seem to be too many options in the area..another guy I contacted said he was already booked. Also, our ceremony definitely isn't going to last an hour so..

Re: Guitarist Price for Ceremony

  • I'm not sure if that's normal but to me that sounds like a lot.
  • Yeah that seems like a lot too, I wouldn't pay that unless you have no other options.  You could always check the music department at a local college, as there are probably students who would be willing to play for the exposure/practice and not cost you an arm and a leg.

  • I wouldn't pay for it, but I don't think it sounds all that unreasonable. Yes, he/she is only playing for an hour or whatever, but there's still planning, prep, driving to wherever your ceremony is, etc.

I would ask this on your local board if you haven't already. People there will have a better feel for prices in your area. Links are in the blue column on the left.

  • From what I've seen so far, the going rate has been $100-$150.
