Shoreline Grill? Green Pastures?

Hi all- Has anyone gotten married (or been to a wedding) at the Shoreline Grill or Green Pastures restaurants? Those are the two venues my fiance and I are considering and we just can't decide!! We're probably going to have about 150 people and not everyone could sit in the same room for dinner at Green Pastures... Any thoughts?

My best friend got married at Shoreline Labor Day weekend several years ago. The ceremony was outside, it was gorgeous! Great backdrop for your pictures. The inside was intimate. She had about 120 guests so the setting was perfect. I remembered that the food was also good. We got ready at the Radisson next door.

I visited Green Pastures this past week as a possible venue. I also have about 150-170 guests and this venue will not work due to our size. It was also too far south for my family.

We very seriously considered Shoreline... but there is no plan b, that's what made us decide to go elsewhere.  You can't put up a tent and everything would need to be moved inside.  To me, the inside was a great venue for dinner, but not so much for a ceremony (or so we thought).  Also, I have to honestly say that I was NOT impressed with the coordinator at shoreline.  She's the only coordinator there now and was very new when we spoke to her in November, so maybe she's gotten better.  One example is... I asked what the plan was if there was rain and she said "we usually don't have rain in May/June, so I wouldn't worry too much about it"  she also told us a few things that would be options for the dinner, but when we asked her to put them in writing or provide a menu with these options, but she wouldn't do this when it came down to it.  I think because she was new, she wasn't sure of what would be possible so she was "over offering" (and under delivering), but maybe she's figured things out with a few more months of experience.

I've been to a wedding a green patures and it was beautiful and the food was great.  We looked at having our wedding/reception there, but they didn't have any dates that would work, so we didn't get any further with the logistics there.

Since you are looking at similar venues as we were, have you thought about Mercury Hall or Mansion at Judges Hill?

The food at Shoreline is awesome. I know someone who got married there, and she loved it.

I am getting married at green pastures - so i dont have a personal experience with a wedding there, but we were referred by someone who went to a really nice reception there. So we had dinner there one night and fell in love with it. It's nice because it's pretty all inclusive and worry free...

One of my best friends also got married at the Shoreline on a Labor Day weekend a few years ago, and it was terrific. I guess I am not sure what you mean by a Plan B?  You could just do the ceremony inside. Not as pretty as outside on the terrase, but it was so blazing hot outside that my friend had to do so, and the ceremony was in front of the French doors. Then folks mingled around while they quickly switched the tables out. (If I recall, they had tables set up in the back behind some screens.) They had cocktail tables set up on the patio, so you could go outside with your drinks and mingle, and then buffet, dinner tables, and DJ/dance floor inside. And the bar that's already in the room. She had a strict budget, but they did a nice job with the passed hors dhoevres and a signature cocktail in addition to the beer/wine bar. I think the ambiance is a little more contemporary/urban while Green Pastures is more rustic and charming. As others have said, I have heard that the new coordinator at Shoreline is slow to respond and doesn't provide enough details to questions. The coordinator a few years ago was older and totally on top of her game.

    Green Pastures hands down.

I had my wedding reception at Green Pastures in February and loved it.  It was such the perfect setting for my "vintage valentine" themed wedding, the food was fabulous, and the staff did a great job of keeping everything running smoothly.  We had over 200 guests, so yes a lot of them were seated in separate rooms and upstairs, but it wasn't a big deal.  We just had to be sure to plan the first dance, toasts, etc. after they'd finished dinner so they could get out of their seats and come to the main room to watch.  Probably the biggest drawback is that you have to pay per drink/bottle of wine at their restaurant price, so you don't know what the total will be until the end of the night, and the drinks are pretty expensive ($4 per beer, $7-$10 per mixed drink, $30+ per bottle of wine).  If you have any specific questions send me an email -- royalepence at gmail dot com.
