Making Jewelry?

After this weekends episode with my mother (refer to MeaganRs post who's here if you want details) I was supposed to wear my (maternal) grandmother's (who's deceased) jewelry but now I'm considering making my own jewelry for the wedding but I never have. I can't imagine it's that hard and I'm pretty crafty.
Anyone make jewelry? Got any pointers or suggestions on brands I should be looking at?
I really don't have alot of money to be spending on wedding jewelry so I thought maybe this might be a more cost effective opposed to buying jewelry from a store or on etsy. I don't want anything too 'blingy" just something simple like this or even simpler.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

those both look very easy to make and would definitely be more cost effective to make then buy on Etsy (I made my necklace for $40, and it cost $300 on Etsy). I used Swarovski pearls for mine, bought at a local bead store (with 40% off coupons). I've ordered from websites like firemountaingems.com, too.

I learned basic jewelry making techniques from youtube... seriously. Once you get the basics down you're set. Get yourself a pair of round nose pliers... they help tremendously with making good loops. I got all my jewelry materials from AC Moore/Michaels with their coupons. This site was also recommended to me, but I've never used it:

I made all of my girl's earrings and braceletes for less than $5 per girl. I have tons of material left over so I'll be using it for birthday/holidays gifts, etc.
