Parent Gifts

My wedding is on March 6th and my fiance and I are having trouble with the gifts for our parents.
   ~What are some traditional gifts?
~What is an average cost/what should they cost?
~When are they given to the parents?

We gave our parents a really sweet card with lots of mushy stuff in it and told them we had a gift coming later.  Then we made photo albums on my publisher of the wedding and gave them to them.  They both LOVED them.

We will give our parents gifts at the rehearsal dinner, along with the gifts for our wedding party. I ordered embroidered handkerchiefs for my mom and FMIL from Etsy. The one for my mom will say "Today a bride, tomorrow a wife, always your daughter." And the one for my FMIL will say "Thank you for raising your son to be the man of my dreams."  I got the idea from a few other brides, and I think it's perfect for my mom and FMIL because they are definitely criers! LOL. We are also going to give a card like the PP with the promise of a wedding photo album.

My goal was to make each set of parents a scrapbook of pictures of both of us growing up... but since I bought the stuff 8 months ago and still haven't touched it yet, I'm assuming that won't happen.

I was wondering what to get our parents as well. My parents are divorced and my dad is not too much of a mushy guy. It's very difficult trying to get them presents!! I love the hankie idea though!!

-kelseymw  Where did you get the embroidered handkerchiefs? Did you buy them and then take them to get embroidered? I love the idea! How much did it cost overall?

    Thanks!
