Seating for the dinner

I'm looking for a venue to seat 150. I've found a few mansions/historical sites, however they can only seat 150 if I split up my guests; i.e. have people in different rooms on the same floor of the house. The site coordinators say this isn't a problem, but I just wanted to get some advice. Has anyone ever been to a wedding where the guests were seated in different places? Does anyone have any ideas about how one could do the traditional reception things (first dance, wedding party entrance) if all the guests are in different places?
Thanks!!

Whitehall manor can accomodate you :) I'm getting married there in October. LOVE this venue!

I personally wouldn't do it - The only reason, is that the people who aren't in the same room and you and your husband may feel weird about it, like they didn't make "the cut" to spend time with the newly married couple who they traveled to see.

PG Ballroom can hold up to 250.  I booked there for my wedding on 9/11.  I wouldn't do that either.  I would be upset if I were invited to a wedding but can't see the bride and groom do all the usual stuff.  As a bride I would be worried about my guests the entire night and not have a good time.

I would say look somewhere else. I agree with the above post, who gets to sit in the room with you and who gets a different room. I have seen this done before and people were not happy.

Thanks everyone - these were very helpful tips! I also decided it wasn't worth it to have to split everyone up.
