Can I Make a Suggestion for Guests Attire?

Watching the royal wedding and all the fancy hats worn by the guests really started making my head spin with inspiration. I think about my childhood days of attending baptist church with my granny and watching all the ladies in church with the fancy hats. I would like to incoporate this into my wedding. I plan on requesting my mom and suggesting to my maternal aunts and godmother to wear a hat. I think they will like it. But I'm not sure about expanding the idea beyond; like suggesting to fi's female relatives(mom, aunts, grandmother) if they would be interested in wearing. I'm not forcing anyone but only person that I request is my mom but the others I listed is just a suggestion.

    I think that sounds like a nice idea.  I remember watching all of the "Mother's" in church with their fancy hats.  Just make sure they dont where anything so big as to obstruct others views.

    I love the idea.  I have been thinking of making a suggestion for attire for my guests too.  I think it would be a lot of fun for those who choose to participate.

    I don't see a problem with it and you can make a note on your wedding website pertaining to attire.

    I love the idea! I think it sounds like so much fun. I saw a website that had a "smackdown" between the royal wedding and the Sunday ladies of black churches. Who you think won?

    That is too funny. It had to be the Sunday Ladies....you already know how we do it! lol although that one princess' scary Lady Gaga looking hat might crawl off her head and eat a few of the Sunday hats....

    I think it is a great idea.  I LOVE hats and wanted to wear one so bad on my wedding, but I was obviously rebuked.  I hope people wear them to my wedding.

    I love the idea ...HOWEVER I know BF's people with be ridiculous with the hats. I swear in church one day there was a hat that could have been mistaken for the old school satelite dishes lol
