Southeast Florida ideas

My FI and I are looking at staying somewhere in the southeast region of Florida. We are hopefully taking 2 weeks for our honeymoon next June and want to be able to go to Key West. We would like to stay someplace with a nice beach and can just relax in the sand. I'm looking at Fort Lauderdale but was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions?

    Ft. Lauderdale is great. West Palm Beach is also really fun - I was there 2 years ago and ate lots of good food, went kayaking, jet skiing, and relaxed on the beach.

    We flew into FLL and drove to West Palm area for a wedding last year.  It was really fun!

    I currently live right outside of West Palm and LOVE the area. So many gorgeous beaches around and if you're looking for a fun atmosphere at night check out City Place, you can look it up online. Food, bars, comedy club, movie theatre, shopping- many of the nicer chain restaurants but also family owned cupcake shops too. Best of both worlds in my book :) They often have live music in the courtyard as well. West Palm can get pricey though so I'd look just outside the city to stay.
