Disneyworld moderate resorts

We're trying to plan our Disney HM, and neither of us have been there before.  For our budget, we are looking at any of the moderate resorts but are not sure which one or how to decide!  Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?

Re: Disneyworld moderate resorts

  • I have stayed at the Port Orleans Resort and it was a cute a nice resort.  I have also stayed at two different All Star Resorts (they are really all the same just a different theme).  These are also great hotels.

Honestly I did not spend a ton of time at the hotel.  I was either in a park or downtown Disney and only was at the hotel to sleep. But either way all of the hotels are nice and very accommodating.
  • I've stayed at Port Orleans, Caribbean Beach, and two of the All-Star resorts. I liked Port Orleans the most, Caribbean Beach is HUGE, Port Orleans is much more intimate, plus I liked being able to take the boat to Downtown Disney.

</div><div>I agree that staying at the Port Orleans is nice because you can rent a boat to drive to Downtown Disney. H really liked staying at the Caribbean Beach. I liked how it was centrally located to all of the parks. It really depends on where you want to be located within the Disney grounds and what kind of theme you prefer. All resorts in the same level are the same amenity wise.

  • I have stayed at Coronado Springs and loved it! I would Def stay there again. I liked it a lot better than Port Orleans. But I would Def check out disboards that is how I made my choice. You can also get a free vacation DVD from Disney.

  • Absolutly do Port Orleans Riverside!
  • I haven't stayed in a moderate in forever, but the last time I did it was at Coronado Springs and I liked it a lot!  I've heard Port Orleans Riverside is good too!

If you can splurge, Animal Kingdom Lodge is a lower priced deluxe.  Not sure of what the price difference would be, but it may be worth looking into.
  • I worked at Disney for 6 months during college. All resorts within Disney are actually good. There is a brand new "value" resort opening with an animation theme, so that might be nice to try. Like others have said, all "moderate" resorts offer the same amenities, it's more of the "theme" you want to go with.
Which ever resort you choose, I would suggest getting the upgrade to a room closer to the bus stops/main building. Some rooms can be pretty far away from the bus stops and food.
Also, take advantage of the early morning extra magic hours, they are less busy than the evening magic hours.
  • I looooved Port Orleans French Quarter!  It was one of their smaller hotels, which made it easy to get around (less walking!).  We also loved taking their boat to Downtown Disney.

  • We stayed at the value (toy story at the movie resort) and to be honest it was great! I'm sure moderate may be less "kiddie" but if you want to save money, it serves its purpose.
