What is appropriate $$ spent on the officiant?

We're getting married by two pastors. MY FI's father and my pastor and friend (his daughter is one of my BM's). Both are great guys and being really helpful and all. I'm just trying to budget things. I'm thinking of a $50.00 gift certificate to a resteraunt but don't want to embarras myself and insinuate thats all their worth to us. Then again we're on a pretty tiny budge as well...

  • We just went ahead and asked mine.  She said typically people give $100 - $150.

  • I'm required to give my priest 200 dollars.  If I had been given a choice, I would've given 100.
  • we're paying our officiant $100
  • our officiant is $150 + $50 for the rehearsal. If they are not charging a specific amount I'd say $100 would be a fair amount. I'd lean towards giving them cash instead of a gift certificate though.

<div>It may be different due to the personal relationships, but pastors are often not allowed to receive cash, unless working directly for the church.</div>
  • Some officiants in Jersey charge closer to $400 for specific ceremonies, so I would go with $100 each.
