How many is too many?

My FI and I started talking about registries and could not narrow it down to three.  We originally wanted no more then three, but have five stores that we would want to register at and are worried this is too many stores!

The stores are Macys for the Martha Stewart Bakeware (I am a big baker and have fallen in love with a lot of the products).  Target for the wide variety of items.  Kohl's because I work there and love their buy back program.  Best Buy because we want to register for a few electronics like a camera and TV (my brother works for Best Buy and would disown me if registered for those anywhere else.) And REI because my FI and I are campers and climbers.

I am worried that this is too many places to register at but have no idea which ones to cut out either.  Would it be ok if there were only a few items at BB and REI?

  • I don't know that Best Buy has a registry, but you could set up a registry with Amazon and use their universal add-on feature to add the things from other stores.

If I were in your shoes, I'd probably register at Target, Kohls, and Amazon and use the Amazon one to add things from REI, Macys and Best Buy.

Target 's registry is known to have issues.
While they are different, Macys and Kohls has similar types of items, so maybe choose one?

Five doesn't bother me, but best buy would bother me - I'm not going to buy you a TV.
