Anyone have experience with an Online Dress Maker?

I am a bride to be with a tight, and I mean tight, budget. My fiancee and I are the only ones paying for the wedding, and I have been trying to figure out the best way to get the dress I want at a price I can afford. So, in my adventures with Google, I stumbed across Kiss Dresses' website. They have great prices (under $200 for a made to size plus size dress), and I am a little worried that I will get what I pay for so to speak. As any one worked with them?

Not only am I pluz size, I'm also 5 feet tall, so I know that trying on dresses is best, but it's going to be hard to get an accurate picture that way as well. My plan is to have the "experience" at a local boutique, figure out what style looks best and then order it from the website. I wanted to know if any fellow Knotters had any input?

TIA!

If you go for online purchase, you need to be very careful about the measurements. Most online dress dealers from China offer made-to-order service. You need to take your measurements professonally according to their measuring guide. Or you'd better check with the customer service in advance. If you are a plus size girl, the A-line wedding dress is a great choice. And you'd better choose lace-up back which makes the bordice and waist parts adjustable. Good luck!

  • you can have a look on JSSHAN, the web is www.jsshan.com, they could supply custom made dress.

  • David's Bridal is having their $99 sale right now. They dont have a ton of plus sized dresses at that price point, but they do have at least one of every silhouette.
  • I used inweddingdress.com and chose them becuase they do accept returns with 20% restock fee if you buy the sizes they have and NOT send in measurements That 20% was worth the risk. The dress was perfect and I did have the alter the length, and my taylor did say it was the best China dress she has seen cause she said some brides have ran into nightmares. I would suggest though you go try some on in different body styles so you know at least you will look good in it then make your choice.
  • Thanks for the advice Gals!

I will be heading to David's to see what they have and if I don't like it, I will do the chinese knockoff thing...

  • a number of women have had good luck with http://www.dressilyme.com/ From what I have read they recommend upgrading lace etc to get a slightly better made product, but they send you update pics as it is made for changes you might want etc...i have seen a couple dresses compared to designer originals and they are pretty good
