I don't like my pictures :(

So I got married 3 months ago and have already received my pictures...but I don't like any of the ones I am in!!!! I don't like my hair, my veil, my makeup or the way my dress is layed out during photos! I love all the other ones...everyone else looks great! How do I cope with this? I was looking forward to getting some larger prints for the wall but now I don't really want to! Any advice?! TIA

Thats awful, what does everyone else think? I'm sure you look great, I'm not sure there is much you can do...maybe some family has pictures you can use.. If not just remember how wonderful your night was!

You could do some bridal portraits:  Have your hair & makeup done.  Do them in the studio, Studio lighting can be amazing in skilled hands.

What a terrible feeling after having such a fun event! My recommendation is to plan a "Day After" shoot (sometimes referred to as a Trash the Dress). You can have a photographer take you to any location that you like and spend a few hours making sure to get the pictures just the way you like.

My husband is a wedding photographer and we've done it for a couple in the same situation as you!

We did the same right after our wedding and although I'm still waiting to see the pictures, am so glad I did! :)

Good Idea on the re-shoot. It doesn't sound like you want a trash the dress session though, you want a re-shoot.  Perhaps the photographer will comp you a free session?

A good photographer/photoshop editor would be able to reshoot just you and then edit the new you into the old photos.  Paying careful attention to the original lighting conditions... This would get expensive for a large number of photos, but for just one large wall print it may be worth it?

I've combined several different old photos into one new one for the perfect shot, but it sounds like you're unhappy with too many aspects of the existing photos for this to work.

It's hardly the photographers fault that she doesn't look great.   She should have taken pictures of herself during her hair and makeup trial to make sure she looked like she wanted to look.  If she wants another session, they she should pay for it.

OP, they can't all be awful.  I went through about 800 shots to pick out my wedding album.  I would have loved to not have eyes that sink into my head or a double chin in most of them but this happened even when I was 40 lbs lighter (and severely underweight) at 115 lbs.  It's just the way I'm built.  I hate the way I photograph.

  • I can make the suggestion of doing a shoot called trash the dress, or if you know any photographers (like myself) that is trying to build up their clientele. They are always looking for models to do certain types of photos for their portfolios.  I hope this helps.

Thanks for all the replies ladies. I would consider doing another shoot for a little bit, but we got married 10 hours away, so that's out of the question. And yes, the photographer did a good job, it wasn't his fault!
-The main thing about my makeup I don't like is my lipstick, but we lost my original color right before and I had to use someone else's whose color was much darker/bolder.
-I did everything for our wedding...the groom did help some, but my BM did not do anything, so I was rushing around before we left and while we were there that I forgot to get pics of my hair, which would have solved my veil problem!
I just think a lot of things didn't go as planned because I was the only one doing things and had a bladder problem the entire weekend of the wedding that I couldn't focus on anything!!
But I do appreciate all the advice from you ladies! Thank you!!

And I would remember how well the weekend went except for the pissed off look on my mom's face because she was pissed the whole time! I thought about doing a trash the dress session but I can't bring myself to do that lol!
