Wedding start time

We chose Vintage Villas as our ceremony and reception site (HIGHLY RECOMMEND. It's GORGEOUS) and the wedding is in August. They suggested we start the wedding at 7 PM (because that will be the best time for pictures as the ceremony will end right at sunset). I'm not sure I've ever been to a wedding that started that late.

What are the pros and cons of having a wedding that starts at 7 PM?

I have been to a wedding out at Vintage Villas in August. They started at 7 as well.
Starting late is definitely the way to go that time of year. First of all, because of the heat. You want it to be as late as possible so that it is cooler. Second, the lighting. They are definitely right about that. Sunset lighting is the best for pictures.

There honestly weren't any cons... except maybe that your guests are hungry for dinner already by the time that you start your ceremony. Make sure to have some appetizers for them while you and your husband our with your photographer taking after ceremony shots!

Oh wow! That's very good insight.

Do you know, give or take, what time the wedding ended? I am a little worried because this is a weekday wedding.

The ceremony wasn't very long, maybe 30 minutes. There was plenty of light left afterwards for group and family portraits as well as bride-and-groom-only portraits. The wedding itself ended around 10:30 or 11. I think Vintage Villas has a pretty strict end time, but the bride &  groom ended up leaving earlier than they needed because they were so tired!

We are getting married in August, and our start time is at 6 pm, but that is because we have to be our of our venue by midnight. It will be hot no matter what time you do it. It is August and Texas.. it is just a given... allow yourself enough time in your schedule for things like pics, or cocktail hour, ect..  Also think about your meal.. if you are doing seated, is 8 to 8:30 a too late time to eat?? Just some things to think about.
