so i went shopping today and didnt realize it until i got home, but the cashier made 3 small mistakes when ringing me up.
(there was a sale, 40% off of 1 item, 20% off of everything else)
first i clearly told her i had 115 blue papers and 20 orange i offered to let her count them, since they were loose, she said she would take my word for it. she charged me for 125 total.
then at the end, i asked if i got 40% off of one of the bracelettes i bought, (those were the most expensive items) she corrected it. but ended up giving me 20% off (i assume it was automatic with everything else) + 25% off of 1 bracelette. i assume she thought that was the easiest way to correct it since it was supposed to be 40%, but should have been 20 and 20 to make 40% (but the register may have not allowed 2 of the same discounts?) also she miscounted how many braceletts, i bought 4 and she only charged me for 3. (2 at 20% off, 1 at 20%+25% off)
i was under charged only $1 on the paper sheets and $2.40 for the missing bracelette and 0.15 on the extra 5% for the other bracelette.
gas to the store and back to correct this would be quite a bit more than that.
had i realized she made the mistakes before i got home, i would have corrected her at the store, but seriously, its only $3.55 i dont plan to go back to pay the few dollars.
my FFIL says not to bother because everything is marked up anyway, and it was the stores fault.
so the questions are:
would you go back to the store?
would you call and inform them that the checker needs more training?
what would you do?
at what point is the cost difference enough to make you go back to have it corrected?
also on the flipside, if you were over charged, how much $ would make you go back to get refunded?
how much would you not bother with a refund for?
