Workout Accountability: Thursday

Hello, hello!

Last night I did a kickboxing workout at home.  The only downside to an at-home workout is that one of my cats thinks it's playtime.  When I'm doing planks, he likes to lay down underneath me.  If anything, it's good motivation to stay up so I don't crush the little dork. He also likes to bat at my ponytail while I do crunches.

Tonight I'll lift (cat free) and do the elliptical.  It is so warm here today, I wish it were a running day so I could take it outside.

How did everyone else do?

Re: Workout Accountability: Thursday

  • Morning!

I did weights last night and skipped the gym cardio to go for a walk with FI and our dog.  It got chilly faster than we expected, though, so the walk wasn't nearly as long as I had hoped.
This morning I got up and biked so that I could enjoy the nice warm afternoon coming our way!

  • The weather is SO nice here.  I'm bummed I wont be able to run outside after work.  STUPID FOOT.  For the most part it's better I think all of the resting and ice has done good.  However, now I'm afraid to start back into training.  I will probably have to start off with small runs and feel it out before I start doing my long ones again.  For the record, I have no patience so this will be hard for me.  I'm going to Marathon Sports to get "refitted" for shoes in the next couple days.

Tonight I might do some lifting (last night I didn't end up going due to belly issues galore).  If not, FI suggested bringing the dog for a long evening walk since the weather is gorg.
  • My cat loves at home workout time, especially stretching and core work.  Silly kitties.

After a week and a half off due to not being able to breathe, I'm back on track with Insanity.  I did the fit test again yesterday, and did more than my last on all but two exercises.  I was really surprised.  I'm almost as sore today as the first day I did it though.  Tonight will be the first workout of month two, and I'm pretty much terrified.

  • Back to the gym again today then hopefully a walk with the dogs! I've been feeling really good about things, but weighed myself and am still at the same weight for the past 3 weeks! Grr! I know my body is changing, so that s good, but it is hard to not see the number move. It might be time to switch up my foods or my workouts!!
  • lol Jude my dog does the same thing! I have a chihuahua so she is small enough to get under me and then she tries to lick my face lol.

lbarr - Sorry your foot still isn't feeling better :(

This morning I have a dentist appointment (ugh) so I took the day off with FI. I was able to stay at the gym longer since I didn't need to get ready for work. I did spin class for an hour and then did some weights for about 30 minutes. It felt really good to get in such a long work out. I wish I could do it all the time. Fi & I are going to see The Lorax this afternoon since we both took the day off. I grew up loving Dr. Seuss so I'm excited. We always only seem to go see kids movies, lol.

  • Good morning!

Last night I did 30DS. Tonight I'll be doing W3D3 of C25K and No More Trouble Zones. My shoulder is really bothering me today, but it's not necessarily as bad as it was on Monday, so I am going to try and push through it. I am hoping that stretching and strength will help it.

It's supposed to go up to 70 degrees today and all the students are in shorts/t-shirts/flip flops/mini skirts. It's quite a sight for March 8th. I did buy some steak this week, so FI is going to grill up Asian flank steak skewers from SkinnyTaste tonight. Can't wait!

    Have a great day!

  • I got 60 minutes of light cardio last night and 15 minutes of free weights. Tonight is gym night, I wanna try to conquer the stairmaster for at least 10 minutes of my cardio time...but we'll see.

  • Skipped Zumba last night but managed to get in BBL Sculpt.  Tonight is my last night of the first 30 day circuit (yay!), so I'm doing a hybrid mix of Cardio Axe and Bum Bum because I was too zonked to deal with cardio last night.  I may throw in a Firm Abs if time allows, but no promises :).

  • I have a short-ish run tonight with a group (should be about 6 miles) and only 10 this weekend.  I'm feeling pretty good since my mileage came down :)

I can't work out at home because my pets get in the way, much like Jude & Maribeth... but two of them are great danes so they're just too much.  They stand over you, lay on you, lick your face, step on your feet, sit on your lap, and in general just too cumbersome to work out around!

Oh- and another pretty awesome milestone... this week marks my "one year off crutches" from a femur fracture :D  So to all of you who are just starting out, or battling injuries (hello: lbarr!!!) you CAN meet your goals, and you CAN exceed them!  You have to be nice to your body (because I wasn't and what I got was 3 months of no weight-bearing, and another 4 months of no high impact activities), let yourself heal fully & properly, take rest days when you need it, and push yourself hard when you can.

  • Didn't do anything last night.  I'm working on some DIY projects, so I took the evening off to work on those a bit.  I've been ignoring them lately...

I'm doing 20 minutes on a treadmill at a 9 min/mile pace (slowly getting faster finally!), then doing the first half of TurboKick.  I'm traveling this weekend and still need to do laundry and pack, so a short workout for me today!

Good luck to everyone this weekend!
  • That's pretty inspiring Medi, nice to see how far you've come!

J&K: What is it with kitties and core work?  Sometimes when I do sideplanks, he'll lay on the ground next to me and stretch himself out long too, like "look Mom, I can do that too!"  Guess he's gotta build up his little abs for the ladies...

Have fun at the movies Maribeth!

  • Last night was movie night, so no exercise!

Tonight we're going to the gym for C25K and weights as usual. Hopefully the leg press machine isn't still broken!! Grr. It's my favourite.

Super jittery today because we get to find out if the venue we want will move a small golf tourney to a different weekend so we can have our wedding there.. Eee! Butterflies!!

  • I have a dog that mocks me with stretching, too! He's a westie and whenever I do side planks or floor stretches, he shows me how low he can bow.

I did 2 sets of 10 min. abs this morning. I lent my 30DS to a coworker and I miss it... tonight I have class after work until 10:30 PM so that'll be it for me today.

  • Taking a nice long walk with the FH tonight after finally submitting my potential final draft of my dissertation to my Committee Chair. Did 90 minutes of Bikram Yoga and was sweating up a storm!

    WANT.TO.DIE.

That about sums it up.  I have never hated Shaun T. more.  Seriously.  I spent probably about 10 minutes total during the workout just laying on the floor.    The worst part is that not only is it hard, but now it requires coordination too.  I do not have coordination.  I tripped myself twice.

There is a point in the workout where out of the 12 insanely, ridiculously, unreally fit people in the video, Shaun T is the ONLY PERSON still doing the workout.  Half of them are sprawled on the floor.

definitely tried to make up for a less than stellar effort at the gym on Tuesday. FI and I thought we would go last night to make up for it, but I begged him not to. What I need is a routine. I convinced him that instead of always going on different nights and then losing the motivation, tuesday and thursday night are sacred.

I definitely need to switch up my weight lifting, I was bored with it today. I usually power walk on the running track, but today a miracle happened....I jogged! I never jog, but my mind started wandering to other things and I started jogging. Heaven forbid I eventually start running.
