NWR: Recommend A Vacuum

So we will be closing on our house in a few weeks and I'm trying to get all of our cleaning supplies in order. I seriously have no idea what kind of vacuum to get though.  I live at my parents house and they've always had central vac. The house is hard wood with carpet in the bedrooms and tile in the bathrooms.  Any recommendations? I've tried reading reviews online but there's so many! Are you supposed to get attachments for each surface? TIA!

Re: NWR: Recommend A Vacuum

  • Dyson! We have the pet version and we use it on tile flooring, hardwood floors, and carpet. It works great on all three surfaces. It's very pricey but it sucks up so much more dirt than the cheaper brands.
  • I have the Dyson Animal DC-24.... I absolutely love it.  I use it on both carpet and bare floors without a problem.  It's lightweight and does a great job.  I also have a pet hair attachment which works great on the couches and stairs. I got it on sale at Macy's last summer.. it was 40% off! :D
  • Ditto PPs on the the Dyson animal vacuum!!

My mom's had one for YEARS and it still works as good as the day she got it.

  • DYSON.. bite the bullet. We had a crappy 40 one we got from walmart because it was cheap. That thing was a pain in the A! We broke down and spent the money on a dyson and it has changed the world! lol

haha yea I was hoping we wouldn't have to buy one because they are so darn expensive but it sounds like they're worth it (:
