Hawaiian Airlines

Hello ladies!

Anyone fly Hawaiian Airlines for their wedding? Did you carry your dress on? Any experiences that anyone would like to share?

Also, I am a bit upset with Hawaiian at the moment because I booked my flight with a travel agent and when I booked it did not give seat assignments.  So I asked my travel agent to call and get assignments and he said there was such limited availability that my fiance and I ended up back to back--- not even sitting together! Needless to say I was not happy, but he assured me that I can change my seat at check in (pending availability).  I am a planner so this bump in the road and the fact that I have to wait until check in really bothers me.  Any feedback on this issue? Thanks ladies!!

Re: Hawaiian Airlines

  • No ideas but I need this information! I am on Delta however.

  • I carried my dress onto Hawaiian.  I hung it  in the tiny half closet, and had to fold the dress in half.  However, you should check though, I don't think every plane has a closet.
  • We booked our entire trip through Hawaiian. I put in a special request that if possible, I be allowed to hang my dress on the plane. The agent was quick to reply and let me know that unfortunately our plane will not have a closet. With that said, Many of the other brides have said they take their dress with them and are allowed to lay it across the other bags in the overhead space. Depending on your material, you should be able to do this, hang it up in your room when you arrive to let out any tension wrinkles. Worse case, just have it steamed at a drycleaner when you get there. That is my plan :)

  • I flew Hawaiian to Maui in November.  I carried my dress and they put it in the closet no problem!  They also gave my husband and I leis to celebrate.  It was really sweet.  They wouldn't give us a free upgrade to first class though :(
I had similar seating issues with Hawaiian because we booked thru American with our travel miles.  We were able to finally get seats the night before.  It ended up being fine and we had and entire row of 5 seats to ourselves!
  • Thanks ladies for the responses.  I am going to see if I can persuade them to let us into first class, but like you stephcap I may not have luck with that. haha, but it is worth a try!
  • When I talked to my future mother in law about this, this was her response.

"No matter what happens, put it in the closet, lay it flat, no matter what you're GOING to take it and get it steamed so it's looks its best for the wedding day. If you're going to do that, having a few more wrinkles in it won't make a difference"

To me she had a point. I would still take it on the plane with you, never let it out of your site. I have read some horror stories of brides "checking in" their dresses />.> So yeah either way you're going to get it steamed and cleaned anyways, so if you have to fold it, it won't matter.

  • Our flight to Oahu did not have a closet so I put it in the overhead bin over everyone else's carry on's, but on the flight from Oahu to Maui there was a closet so they hung it up for me.

I will say it was a pain lugging it around the airport so I would suggest putting it in a carry on suit case if you can and then pay for it be be steamed when you get there (which I did anyway).
