something old: A diamond bracelet from MIL that my SIL also wore at her wedding. It was a gift to someone in MIL's family and passed down. I believe it was made in the 1940s.

something new: My dress, shoes, jewelry, veil, etc.

Something borrowed: My mother's cameo broach that she bought in Italy. I had it pinned to my bouquet (pic here: http://photova.smugmug.com/Weddings/Elizabeth-and-Craig/12297374_Zv2Ws#877537485_8JZjB)

something blue: I bought bobby pins from someone on etsy that had blue pearls attached to the end. They were scattered all througout my hair.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

  • Something old: My grandmother's charm, which was attached to my bouquet, and the bracelet I wore.

Something new: Just about everything - dress, shoes, earrings, veil, etc.

Something borrowed: The wedding ring I used in the ceremony.  My wedding ring has stones in it, and in a Jewish wedding you can't use a ring with stones, so we borrowed MIL's dad's ring.

  • Old-still trying to find something
    New-dress, veil, shoes, etc
    Borrowed--most likely a bracelet.
Blue--Undies, Garter and possibly toenail polish =)

Do you think my something old & borrowed could be the same thing?  or is that bad luck for the tradition?
  • Something old: A handkerchief that belonged to my grandma.  It was also very sentimental because she passed away a year and a half before my wedding.
Something new: dress, shoes, veil, etc.
Something borrowed: Earrings that my Matron of Honor wore in her wedding 3 years prior.
Something blue: My garter, my flowers, my bridesmaids, etc. (our colors were blue and yellow!)

  • My friends actually handled all of this for me, without me knowing!

Something Old: Earrings that my mother-in-law made from a necklace that belonged to her mother, which worked out really well because I didn't have a set pair planned. Handkerchief from my paternal grandfather who passed away in 2005, I held it with my bouquet and it came in mighty handy during the ceremony. Cuff links that belonged to my maternal grandfather who passed away in 2006, I ended up putting these in my dress...sounds silly, but they were right next to my heart the whole time.

Something New: Dress, shoes, and cute clutch my friends bought me that matched my dress.

Something Borrowed: My best friend that lives in LA couldn't make it to the wedding, and we have this inside joke with little kids toothbrushes. So, she sent one of hers that I'd had at my house forever and had just recently sent back to her. I kept it in the clutch.

Something Blue: Cinderella chapstick! My friends all know that I'm obsessed with Disney's Cinderella, so they put blueberry chapstick in the clutch. I wore it underneath my actual lipstick.

All of these items were in the white clutch my friends had bought me. And they presented it to me right before I put on my dress. It was all I could do not to cry before we got started.

  • something old: great grandmother pearl necklace I recieved at my college graduation. My mom cried when she heard I plan to wear it on my wedding day.

Something blue: probably garter or I will drink a blue martini before I get ready like my aunt did and have a blue tongue haha.

    Something new: dress etc.

Something borrowed: haven't figured out this one yet might borrow something from my best friend from her wedding I was in.

I really want to have sixpence or fivepence which I will probably get online.
