Stuck ;(

I have been on a weight loss mission for quite a while now and I have lost about 15 pounds over the last 6 months I would love to lose another 15 by mid sept but if not then atealst another 5-10. However I have been stalled for about a month or 2 now I just keep going up 1 and going down 1. I finally went down about a week ago. I eat pretty healthy, salads, whole grains, fruits, veggies, meats. I have stayed away from fried and greasy foods and sweets are occasionally (like once a month if at that) and usually that’s only fat free frozen yogurt. I eat about 1200-1400 calories a day and I work out pretty often atleast 5-6 days a week and burn anywhere from 400-700 calories each workout. Lots of cardio and I try to do strength training atleast 2-3x per week. I cant figure out what I am doing wrong? I am not eating enough? I use my fitness pal to keep a log and I always check my daily stats, I go over my daily sugar easily because of yogurt or fruits everyday, I have been watching my sodium and was going over a lot but now I have been doing pretty good. any helpful tips anyone can give would be appreciated.

Re: Stuck ;(

  • I'd suggest exactly what someone else just told me in my last post, eat a little more! I was thinking of calories just as what I eat for the day and not calculating in what I am burning so basically putting my body in starvation mode which will not help with any weight loss. Hope that helps!

as PP said your body may be used to the calories you are eating so maybe for a couple of weeks try and up your calories a little bit. This will make your metabolism work a little harder. Are you logging every single thing you eat? That means every handful of almods you grab and every single condiment you put on your sandwich, etc, etc. Because all of that adds up quick.

How do you calculate your calories burned exercising? Are you maybe over estimating that? 700 calories in one work out session just seems very high to me.

You mentioned you go over a lot on your sugar. I do too because MFP gives you like 24g a day limit or something and if you eat a piece of fruit it is almost impossible to stay within that. One suggestion I do have in regards to sugar is to cut out any kind of flavored yogurt. Those are LOADED with sugar - some have almost 25g of sugar in one serving. Switch to plain greek yogurt and flavor it yourself with fresh fruit and/or honey or stevia or any other kind of natural sweetener. Make sure also that you are drinking lots and lots of water. Good luck!

  • I wouldn't be so worried about the number on the scale. If you are exercising, initially you will loose weight because the excess fat is burning up.Eventually the weight turns into muscles. Perhaps you did loose all of the fat and replaced it with muscles. Don't be discouraged, it's what looks in the mirror counts!

  •  I use a heart rate monitor i run about 3 miles everyday and that alone can burn anywhere from 3-400 calories depending on the type of run, sometimes i do sprints and things like that and then i always do some other type of work out with weights, so i generally work out about 2 hours per day. it gets really frustrating that im not really seeing the same results i was seeing a few months ago an i cant figure out what has changed. I will def switch to plain yogurt and flavor it my myself, thanks for the tip. I log every littie bite of anythng, condiment, water, even the vitamins. I know my iron is always too low as well so i just started taking an iron suppliment to help with that. i will try increasing my calories a little and see what happens.
