Sandals St. Lucia La Toc

My Fiance and I booked our honeymoon to Sandals St. Lucia La Toc from 12/412/12. We booked the Romeo and Juliet Sunset Bluff penthouse suite with butler service. Has anyone ever been to Sandals and if so what were your thoughts on the experiance, butler vs no butler and La Toc, if you have been?? Any recommendations?? I'm looking for honest opinions, even if you had any concerns or a disappointing experience! Thanks!

Re: Sandals St. Lucia La Toc

  • We've been to three Sandals,St.Lucia Grande, negril Jamaica and Antigua. Reviews and pics are in the link above my siggy pic.
  • Hubby and I went to Sandals St Lucia for our 10/26/12 honeymoon. It was a nice getaway and it's nice to not have to worry about food.  We found the drinks watered down and food average. One day we drank Bailey's on the rocks to minimize our chance of a watered down drink but after 4 of them I felt full but not tipsy.  There are great excursions to take but they are pretty expenseive $50 per person to go on a reggae themed boat ride to a nearby island for a local fish fry, $125 per person to visit the drive through volcano, swim in the hot springs and have a local lunch. They are non-refundable so once you book, even if you book day 1 for an excursion day 4 you don't get your money back.  The good things, variety of food at each resort. We stayed at the Grande and went to each of the other 3 resorts to visit or eat. It's best to make a day of it and I read other reviews that said you could ask for a locker for the day so you could swim, shower, and change your clothes with some comfort. The resorts are about a 20-30min ride from one another which is why you want to make a day of it. The big plus with butler service is that you get your pick of restaurants. La Toc I think is also the name of the french restaurant at the resort and we did not have butler service so we booked our meals at the reservation only spots the day we arrived but La Toc had no availability. They hold spots for lucky guests like you with butler service. Even without butler service they delivered a nice continental breakfast to us daily upon request - fruit, juice, coffee, cereal. Make sure your hubby takes closed toes shoes because for evening's open toe sandals of any kind are not allowed for men (they are for women.) Shoes for men are $80min in the gift store. We got a taxi from the resort (they'll arrange it) to town to check out the vendor market. Cabbie charged us $50 for the round trip fare!! Talked to a friend who stopped at St.Lucia on a cruise boat and he, his wife and another couple got a cab from the vendor area to take them to all the sites (same excursions you can book through sandals) and the cabbie charged them $50 total for the whole day. An option if you hook up with another couple for added safety. That will be easy as most other visitors are honeymooners, under the age of 35 and friendly. Check the events calendar when you arrive cause there's stuff to do most nights on the resort. La Toc is a mountainous resort so not as convenient to get to your room as the Grande but there's a shuttle to take you up and down from your room to the main area. Hope this helps! It's your honeymoon!!! Enjoy it!!!! You're surrounded by gorgeous blue water and awesome weather! Oh we did the rum tour. Ok tour but the ability to buy a couple of bottles of rum to take home that you can't get in the States is awesome!

  • Thank you so much!! Great info! I'm looking forward too it!
  • Love Sandals - Love St. Lucia!  Hope you have a wonderful honeymoon!

  • Why are you asking for opinions after you already booked it? Biggest rule during wedding planning is definitely DON'T shoot then think, or whatever the phrase is. Same goes for dress, photog, venue, anything. I'm also going to St Lucia, were staying at Ti Kaye village. Hope it's amazing!

I'm just getting some other opinions? I like getting different takes on where I'm going and see what people liked and didn't like.
