Photographer Review - Our Experience with 11-4 Productions - Not Recommended

edited 01.13.13

The biggest, most expensive mistake I've ever made - hiring 11-4 Productions.

I wish I could say that we had a good experience with this company.  .we were so excited when we booked them in Aug 2011 based on the beautiful pictures on their website.

Neither John nor Sunshine photographed our wedding.  Two other photographers were there on our wedding day.  .and we are so incredibly disappointed with the pictures we received.  I wish we could go back in time and choose a different company.

We booked two photographers for seven hours ($2300) and received 560 photos (including duplicates). Some of them came out beautifully, but we are disappointed in the overall quality of the photos.  We feel that many of them are dark and taken from unflattering angles. People have their eyes closed, faces are blocked, etc.  (and these are the "posed" pictures - not random pics taken during the reception)

We did not do a First Look, so our opportunity to pose for photos for the first time as a married couple, and have pictures taken with our wedding party, was between the ceremony and the reception.  We were very disappointed in the number of photos we received of us taken during that time.

We had two photographers – yet the pictures we received of our ceremony were taken from the same vantage point.  We didn't get pictures of our ceremony from different angles, we didn’t get any pictures of us walking back down the aisle for the first time as husband and wife, but we did get pictures of the female photographers posing in our photo booth.  Great.

There are pics that we know were taken (invitation with rings) but we have never received. We contacted them twice by phone and received no answers about where the pictures are. The first time my husband spoke with Sunshine and she said she'd look into it.  He called again about a week later after not hearing back from her and left a message on their voice mail.  No return phone call.

After posting reviews on various websites I received text messages stating that legal action would be taken against us for our reviews if they were not removed.

The text messages were immediately followed by a phone call (from that same number) from John Bujak.  My husband discussed our concerns with him. John asked us to temporarily remove the reviews while he looked into the situation, including the whereabouts of the missing photos. He promised to give my husband a call the following Friday night.

That night we removed the reviews where possible and edited others . Some websites will only let you edit, so I edited my original review and replaced it with this statement - “after being contacted by our photographer we have agreed to temporarily remove our review while we work with them to find a mutual resolution to our concerns.”

We have been unable to reach a resolution with John and Sunshine.  He offered to personally take photos of us at our venue, but after receiving text messages threatening legal action for posting the reviews. . . I declined any further interaction with him.   We requested a partial refund and they declined, sending us an email stating that "we have fulfilled our terms of the contract that you signed with us".

As of this posting, we still have not received any information from them regarding our missing photos

We definitely do not recommend this company.

  • That really stinks, sorry that happened. I would put that feedback on their vendor reviews on the weddingchannel.com website. That is what feeds the reviews into the knot and as far as I know, they can't delete those. It's good to warn future brides.

thank you!  I did post there as well.
  • To be fair, they may have taken thousands of photos but if they're only giving you 560 of them it's possible ALL the other photos were not worth giving to you (IE: poorly exposed, camera shake, people blinking, bad crop etc.)

Did your contract state you would get ALL photos? If not, you don't really have a leg to stand on with that. I've worked for a wedding photographer before and part of my job was to sort through thousands of photos and get rid of all duplicate photos (meaning the photographer took 10 shots of one pose and I had to find the best shot where the most people looked good) and photos where people were blinking, poorly exposed etc. Most photographers will want to present you with "the best of the best" (which doesn't sound very impressive if you don't even like many of the ones they provided you).

Sorry your photographer was not what you needed/wanted them to be, that does suck and you should write as many reviews as possible to get the word out about this company.

  • I'm sorry that you had such an awful experience. Thanks for the warning. I'm glad that you refused to be bullied by this company.
