I'm going dress shopping for the first time in a few weeks. I have an idea of what I'd like but I'm going to try on a lot of different styles to see if it works better. Do any of you have any advice or words about what to expect? Right now I'm really excited yet also a bit nervous.
Re: Dress shopping advice
Ditto what Rachael said. Not everyone has that "THIS IS MY DRESS!" squee moment. I know I didn't. I had it narrowed down to two dresses and made my decision based on which one was more "me". I LOVE my dress now, but I think it was just really overwhelming at the time.
So I guess my advice is try not to go into it with preconceived notions about what should happen. Try to enjoy yourself as best you can and have some fun
My only recommendation FWIW is go alone the first couple of stores, look through their racks, and try some things on. Once you have a good idea of the style that is flattering to you, then take along your Mom, or another trusted advisor. I've just seen so many disappointed brides in stores that quibble with their Moms or others about what is right for them.
Also, staying in budget is hard, but worth it. This will be the most important dress you will wear...........for 8 hrs or so. NOT the end of the world if you have to stay within budget. There are tons of lovely gowns out there, from $100 to $10,000.
Good luck.
